Rating itself is irrelevant. THe real key is the high end of the two numbers... if you have a high end of the two numbers, you're bound to have a decent damage rating... and more than likely going to have a wide spread, because a relatively high "low end" damage would blow the rating way skywards.

So yeah, look for a higher high end if you're going a maxed crits route... don't care so much about rating itself.
