Default + to Pierce

Alright I've got a good handle on +CA, +DA, +Crit. But when would you (if ever) sacrifice them for + pierce. I found that pushing up my pierce to 510 can improve my hit from about 300 misses to 100. Or do the other pluses make up for the misses?

Usually the stuff I take with +pierce is good in some other respect as well, and the +pierce is just icing on the cake, so to speak. I don't think I've ever intentionally sacrificed something else for +pierce on gear.

It's very hard to gear for weapon skill anyway because no pieces favor it. Like Marou said most players see some weapon skill on an item as the icing on the cake and it seems the development team has designed it to be this way. There are many pieces with large single bonuses to just about every stat except weapon skill. +5 crit or +5 DA as the only good mod on an item is pretty common but I haven't seen any gear with a respectable +20-30 piercing or slashing as its primary focus.

Ya im the same as Marou - ill look at the +skill but generally only as a determining factor to decide between 2 closely matched bits of gear for any given slot. From a number of people ive spoken to, +skill seems a bit borked atm (although others are reporting that this week +skill seems to be impacting a bit more as hit rates on mobs in vp have increased for us scouts).

People really underestimate +skill on weapons in tier 8. Melee hit rates suck. The only things that're much better than +skill are crits and max damage.

This is why many people in the swashbuckler channel will say that when choosing between Segmented Serrator, Betrayal's Song, and Carrotidcutter, they will say to take Betrayal + Carrot because they both have double attack.

Well, Serrator + Betrayal far outperforms betrayal + carrot, I've learned this testing it myself. +skill makes a big difference, even though I'm losing 5 DA from not having the carrot equipped.

TBH + pierce items are good, but with swindlers ( which shud be up always on raids ) Scouts can afford to sac a + 5 pierce mod here or there in favor of crits and/or DA.

So I wouldn't worry about it too much.

Personally I wouldn't sac any crit/DA for only a + pierce mod, but that's just me /shrug.

Depends on the raid setup. If in a MT group with a Guardian, Templar, and Dirge, and spamming Swindlers you should have no problem being beyond max skill in piercing or slashing.

I'll stick to what I know. Despite others saying betrayal + carotid will outdo serrator + betrayal, I have found serrator + betrayal to outdo any other pair from those 3 choices. ;)

Suppose it could just be that massive (comparatively) max damage on serrator, but people kept insisting DA >>>.

Speaking of Swindler's,

Does anyone know the actual odds of tagging Bravo's Dance on HO's ? Seems rare as fuck for me. But when it procs its like a perma agitate for 6 mins ~
