Default What am I doing wrong?

I was in a CoA group last night with 80 defiler, 80 beserker (tank), 79 swashy, 80 brigand, 80 monk and then there was me (80 swashy).

My gear was comparable (or even better) than either the 79 swashy or the brigand, in my opinion - I have 6 pieces of the heroic swashy set plus almost all the quested fable or legendary pieces (tyn shackle, Thuuga, etc.).

All three of us were dual wielding. I was DWing SoD Saber and Anaphylaxis, the 79 swashy was DWing Anaphylaxis and Carotid... and I'm not sure what brigand was DWing.

Occassionally, the Zerker outdpsed all three scouts - which is understandable with ripostes and the zerker's AoEs. Sometimes the monk did... but I know monks spec'ed for dps CAN do some serious dps.

But most of the time it was the scouts in the lead. But... most of the time... I was 3rd in the parse. Now, I assume that the other scouts were running causitc poison like me, so it was the poison type that made the difference. And with my armor poison proc, I would have expected to be towards the top - if not THE top - of the list considering my gear was superior (imho) and I was one level above the other swashy. But alas, unless I blew my insight I was usually third - occassionally 2nd.

Now... that being said. I think both of them had gone all the way down the AGL line to get Sailwind, while I went down the INT line to get FD. So, since the fights were relatively short - I assume they were plowing through the CAs and getting very high burst damage.

Is there something else I'm doing wrong?

* I'm fully spec'ed down STR and INT with the rest of my points in the AGL line in the rogue tree.
* I'm fully specced down the reach and poison lines and almost all the way down the style line on the swashy line.
* I have ALL adept III's except for 2-3 masters.

What am I doing wrong?

Did you save any of the parse info? Best place to figure out what you're doing wrong is to compare where the damage was coming from and how they were doing more, specially the other swashie, should be a apples to apples and easy to see what the other swashie has over you.

There is your problem. No idea what caused you to go down the int line, but go down the agi line and drop 8 in avast ye and you will parse much better.

going full INT line will hurt your DPS considerably.

get Advanced Combat Tracker, and run it while you run an instance w/ another good swashie.

Well, I see probably 2-3 reasons you were 3rd. First and most important being sailwind, if you don't have it and they did, you're SOL. As you have FD (which is extremely useful for a soloer) thats a lot of points you probably are missing from other damage AA's like the AGI rear-flanking proc and the STR melee crit. A less likely reason is that cartiocutter has about 5-10 more dps than your setup.

I know its hard to leave FD, but I would at least suggest getting sailwind and FD, and putting the rest of your points into the STR line. Your swash tree sounds about right so long as you have the poison potency.

I recently gave up my FD to try a higher dps build. AGI down to sailwind, WIS to max out double attack, STR for crits, and INT for 1 point in boot dagger. Using anaphylaxis and Bristlebane as a diety.

Agility line adds buckets of dps to your parse. Fuck int line, bro. Having a 16% proc (not including a dirge or templar) that crits for 2k+ is irreplaceable.

Max your crit too. I never lose to brigands unless the fight is 5 seconds and they used their DU combo.

I'd say look at your gear again too. Some people assume that since its the legendary set gear that its gonna be the best you can get legendary wise, but thats not the case. For swashy's and probably most scouts for that matter a mix of different pieces is the best way to go since the set piece bonuses are pretty crappy. I'd rather take a couple items with +cr and +da or +ca than sacrifice them for the set bonus.

My gear right now is pretty much all attainable by questing and instances, though I do have some fabled pieces from T1 raid zones and leftovers from EoF... but I have noticed that the new pieces only marginally improve my DPS (since most of the raid gear so far isn't beating out the non-raid stuff). But I focus all my gear choices on those +attributes. I typically parse 2-2.5k in a bad group, and in a solid group with good melee buffs I'll be doing 3-3.5k.

I am STR, AGI, WIS (with sailwind and ts)... and run 44 crits and 78 DA, 28 DPS and 25 haste without group buffs and item proc buffs.

Ok... I respec'ed last night to STR/AGL with a little INT thrown in...
it's something like
STR - 4-8-6-8-1 (27)
AGL - 4-8-4-8-1 (25)
INT - 4-4-1 (9)

Something like that... can't remember exactly.

Anyway... seems like last night's CoA run was much better... if I wasn't lazy... I was at the top of the parse everytime.

I also swapped out my SoD/Asph combo for Carod/Asph combo.

I do miss my FD tho.

If you want the "best" str / agi post RoK spec go

4-6-4-8-1 str 4-6-4-8-1 agi 4-4-8 sta 4-1 int

as long as u have reach, potency and style tree finals you can put remaining AA whereever you want but eye point is great due to the -riposte damage
