More of a curiosity question.

Would it be better when DW to carry both a piercing and slashing weapon or would it be better to carry both the same on each weapon.

Pierce/Pierce Slash/Slash or Pierce/Slash

Supposedly it's better to have two of the same, but it doesn't make an enormous difference, really. Just take whatver high damaging weapons you can get.

It just so happens, excluding the epic, when I have the two weapons I want most, I'll have two slashers. Witchdoctor's Doomblade and Segmented Serrator (sorry, Throatcutter's a dagger and I fuckin hate daggers).

If at all possible i would prefer to take 2 of the same, with the higher level Mobs in the raid zones and the hit rates like they are at least with 2 of the same type of weapons you can focus on getting that 1 skill up.
Then again that is just what I want, i might have 0 dkp left when the ideal off hand pierce/slash does drop

always been a firm believer of whatever hits hardest that i can get my hands on. I've used 2 pierce, 2 slash and one of each... I don't think i've ever seen a difference in DPS between any of the three setups unless one of the setups out-weighed another all around by being better weapons.

People seem to argue over pierce vs. slash as if they have some kind of real difference, when the only factors that matter are skill mod and weapon damage. I concentrate on the spread, effects, and delay first, then worry about maximizing either pierce or slash mod later. Unfortunately, the mods don't effect the hit rates as much as they should against 86+ mobs, but by only choosing slash or pierce you needlessly limit your weapon choices.
