We tried this fight last night with a shadowknight, 2 wizards, a mezzer and a fury (and me).

I used my Advance Warning for the first AE and we burned him down to 40% while mezzing the adds, then the 2nd AE wiped us.

If we would have had a 2nd healer instead of a 2nd wizard or someone else with AE protection, we probably would have made it.

I did this fight last night and while it is fun it isnt really that hard.

My group was a SK, Dirge, Swash, Brig, Fury, Temp

When he became active dirge used AOE Avoid. When his was down I used mine we killed the mob in 54 seconds according to act. Total fight buring down the adds after was 1 min 30 seconds. I dont remember even seeing the bird.

Ugh,

I do not know what is making this so fucking hard... I went in last night with.. SK Ward Mystic Lock Coercer Swash.

We found a tactic to pull the adds (the pirates) off the ship b4 taking on jones... yes and it requires the swashi to die .. anyways.. zone in and drop. (the swash) activate the encounter and wait for Jones to come and kill you.. When you are dead and Jones resests you are good to go.. Reinvite to grp and buff up.

What you do: stand next to the exit point (ia The wheel) and cast your AOE, you will hit the three pirates along the closest side to you thus pulling them and allowing you to kill them. And no Pirate Jones is not linked to them so it is a safe pull with only those 3 priates. Next; the warlock has a frontal cone AE that has about a 15-18 Meter range on int, standing in the same place a b4 have him csat it while faceing the other pirates, and again you pull them. After all is said and done you are left with nothing more than Pirate Jones.

Now this is were we ran into trouble, I am not sure if it was a bad Healer or the SK just did not have the hit points.. but we could not Kill Jones.. 8% and Wipe not once but twice.

I am going back in again with same strat just Diff. tank to see if that helps...

Anways, hope this helps anyone else having trouble to get it done.

After about 20 deaths..Pirate Jones died tonight.
Paladin, Templar, Illusionist, Ranger, Warden, and me

Miracles, AOE blocks, and a little luck is what we needed.

Pally, Brig, Warden, Swashy, Swashy, Templar

All in the corner, engage with swashy aoe protection and my stifle/fear protection (even though I doubt that helped alot), concentrate on Pirate Jones - ignore the rest, at some point warden used her aoe protection. heal-heal-heal-heal Pirate dies, all the swashies rejoice, whatever mobs were left killed us. Didn't matter because all you need for the update is Pirate Jones...

I know, it's not clean, feels unfinished, because you didn't kill the other mobs, but our swashies couldn't have cared less.

Well I died probably 30 times to this guy, and still nothing to show for it except a pile of debt. I have tried a few different group setups

First setup was Templar, Mystic, myself, coercer, conjurer, shadowknight..

Only got him down to about 40% (when first set of adds spawned)

After about 10 tries gave up

Second Setup was mystic, inquisitor, myself, coercer, shadowknight, monk.
Failed even worse


Third setup was fury, assassin, myself, coercer, shadowknight, dirge
Got him down to about 25% each time, but again fail

Every single time it is from 2nd set of adds.


The problem seems to be the damn parrot. If the parrot was taken out of this encounter I do not think it would be that much of a problem.
We tried cycling AOE block. I would use on pull, dirge next, then signet... but coercer cant get parrot and pirates both in time.

I think I officially give up on this encounter until SOE nerfs it down a bit (which I am sure they are going to have to at some point)

We did this quest with monk, mystic, inq, ranger, swashy and illy.

The hardest part of this fight is incurable fear and aoe stifle. Adds are annoyed but if your mezzer is not stifled, your group should be fine.

The trick of this fight is everyone should has potion of free mind. Also, brawler is awesome tank in this fight since monk can self cure every 2 minutes and brawler can immune to stifle for 30 sec.

Another trick is to fully debuff pirate of jones with different dolls before first wave of adds. If you really have problem of being stifled, you can buy stifle immunity signet from city merchant.

Once it's debuffed and healers can heal your tank without being stifled, this fight is really easy.
