My guild killed the pirate last night after about 25-30 attempts with different setups.

Using the strategy previously posted where the swashy drops from group to spawn the pirate, and then using static discharge (warlock / Wizard AA ability) to pull the 2nd lot of pirates from the other ship.

The trick to this fight is the bird… you need to get it mezzed or be lucky enough to kill the Jones before he casts his pet bird.

The problem here is AOE stifles and the bird spawning under the deck so it cannot be targeted as it kills your tank.

We ended up using. (Guardian, Templar, Fury, Troub, Wizard, me)

Relic of Clear voice, Sanctuary and blade dance on the pull.
Advanced warning after Bladedance was down.

On our successful attempt (2rd time using above start and clear voice) we killed the pirate in less than a min and no Parrot was popped.

The previous attempt the parrot was popped at the start of the fight and we wiped.

My guild is a casual raid guild half way through ROK T1 content. In my opinion this encounter is too hard for something targeted at non raid guild being the best a non raid guild can get.

I have helped get the Shadowknight, Berserker and Fury fabled epics… The SK and fury was too easy. The berserker was about right and the Swashbuckler one too hard IMO.

Succeeded with 80 Guard, Swash, Templar, Warden, Fury, and Dirge.

Stacked the 3 ae blocks to go off one after the other and Templar used sanctuary once they expired.

After 6 try, we were able to kill it.
There is an easy way to kill but you have to figure it out.
I hope it will never ever gets nerf; I love the hard fight.

Oh another thing I did was respec down the debuff line for this fight, max int debuff, skill debuff and dps debuff, plus the final 13% resist increase.

Helped a guildie do it this weekend and after several pulls clear voice stifle immunities + aoe prevention 4tw. Setup was pally, templar, fury, swash, illy, monk. Swash used their aoe prevention on pull and templar used sanctuary on pull, after that I (fury) used my 30s aoe prevention and once that was up used my clear voice signet and spammed group heals the rest of the fight.

I've done this fight a couple times now, with the following setups:

Guardian, Illy, Temp, Warden, Dirge, Swashy

Guardian, Illy, Temp, Warden, Swashy, Swashy

Here's how we do it now, no signet's necessary:

When the boat pulls up, Swashy grabs aggro on first group of pirates, the ones he can grab with AOE, and puts them where the Illy wants them. They get chain mezzed from there.

Pirate Jones comes across the plank, emotes, up goes Sanctuary/AW right before he turns aggro to catch the first AOE.

Burn down Jones, Bladedance/AW just before the thirty second mark for the next AOE.

Illy grabs second set of pirates at 40% ish, or whenever they come.

Illy mezzed bird if ever he spawns.

Max burn down Jones. The swashy's have to ALWAYS be ready to drop aggro on Jones, because he seems to be scripted to go after the Swashy that zoned everybody in every now and then. Deaggros and FDs should work fine.

Swipe constantly, if Swipe sticks, you can kill him before the third AOE, but even if it doesnt stick, you should be able to recover through just one AOE.

Pirate Jones on farm status.

Went in last night for my first try at jones and well lets just say I will have to try again. I will try again in a few days or so and hopefully have better luck. It would seem impossible to be done without dirge and chanter of some kind but within this post there are groups without them and have killed him /shrug. Is there somewhere to put the tank so he does not get thrown around because when the tank got thrown Jones went straight to the healers? It was late and only had a few logged in so I went in with Guard, Pally, Msyt, Fury, Assas, and me and we could not get past the first set of adds before wiping. But some of the other posts I read this should have been ok but in my mind the dirge and chanter will be a must next time. We are a small guild and someone has told me that you can only get the stifle potion if you are lvl 60 guild and well we're not there yet is that true? Well any other strats on this fight will be welcomed with open arms.

There is 2 its called something like a symbol of clear voice and a signet of clear voice. One lasts for 60s while the other lasts for 90s. I know the 90s version you can't buy until gl 70, but I'm not sure about the lesser version.

And make sure you pull at least the first set of adds before fighting jones, with some classes you can pull both sets, but anyone should be able to pull at least one.
