Ok explain how to pull the adds please? I tried the drop group method and the adds were not aggro/targetable yet? How do you get them to be targetable for this fight are they on a timer or something? I died in two swings from Jones so do I have to last longer for them to become aggro?

They're not targettable from the boat. You have to pull them using Swathe (and I believe you need the reach line enhancement). You can only get the first set using this method.

I used this method to pull the first set, then our enc mezzed the second at 33% while we wailed on Jones.

Everytime i failed it is on the 2nd set of adds. it seems that the parrot ALWAYS spawns with the 2nd set of adds, and the coercer cant get the adds and parrot mezzed quickly enough.

I been thinking of different strats that I will try next.
I think I am going to try this group next

Templar
Fury
Guardian
Illusionist
Coercer
Myself.


We will aoe pull first set of adds and kill them right away.
Fury will aoe block on pull since you only really need one healer for first 50% anyways. At 50% fury will cancel aoe block so he can start getting group heals up. Templar use sanctuary.
Once fury blocks I will use my AOE block. Once my AOE block is done, we use signet of etheral form (or however it spelled).

One of the enchanters will have a macro that will mezz parrot, and he will hit this button between each cast to ensure parrot gets mezzed second it spawns. Once he has it mezzed he will just focus on dps. The 2nd mezzer will have the encounter mezz macroed to automaticlally mez pirates the second they spawn.
Once everything mezzed we just burn down the named.

Sure this isn't exactly the most dps heavy group, but the enchanters can put out some good dps. And with fury aoe block, my aoe block, and signets, we have about 80 seconds of aoe block.
I may try out a few different ideas.. possibly swap one of the enchanters for a dirge or assassin.

You guys are really exploiting the encounter so that the adds don't spawn? Cmon don't be that fucking pathetic...

The encounter isn't impossible, although it is a little difficult and requires you to think maybe just a little bit.

Use swipe, time the aoe's, kill the adds when they spawn and burn down Jones. This isn't Nexona.

Imo 2 chanters is a baaaad idea unless maybe you're doing 4k+ zonewides which if you were I don't think you'd have any problems getting a group who can kill this guy and even still I wouldn't reccomend 2 chanters. Its hard enough to keep one caster up like someone earlier said its best to bring no mages and if any 1 chanter is plenty. You have to burn this guy down fast from 33% to dead. The 2 healers are going to be spamming their heals, 2 chanters mezzing which leaves you and the guardian for dps, that just ain't gonna cut it.

Well the enchanter that is just mezzing the bird, he only needs to refresh that every 15 seconds or so... so the other 14 seconds he could be DPS (and with signets of ethreal form he wont take any aoe damage)
Then the one that is mezzing the pirates could still have time to throw a couple dots on.

This fight really is about AE prevention abilities, sanctuary and any other fear/stiffle immunities. With them it is not that hard, without them that AE can wipe your group. Ignore the bird, eventually he will despawn, but be aware when he is up, for the extra healing you will have to do.

Of course pulling the first group of adds before engaging Jones helps. :D

Warlock with Static Discharge gets all the pirates everytime... I have now done this twice with me and a fellow swashi...

Guard Temp Lock Swash Swash Inquis.

Drop grp, Die, get Rezed and have the lock pull adds with static discharge.. Its easy and when adds are gone.. straight burn on Pirate Jones... and yes the bird is a pain.. Deal with it..

Ok so here we go again. I drop group and die ok that is easy. Then he goes off and kills the rest of my group usually only leaving one or so alive. Is that normal? I could not get the drop group to pull adds to work so we tried to just kill well I still don't have my epic...lol. It takes alot of effort for me to get a group in here and to come away with nothing other than debt is pissing me off. So if you can tell me why when I drop group he attacks the others with me anyways then how does it work? The most success I've had with him is just trying to burn him down normally without the drop group method. I am not a raider but I do raid a little bit not T8 yet though and this is a raid mob IMO because of all of the aoe's he is throwing out. I had aoe imune up for the first 40 sec. of the fight and we still got feared and knockback which is killing us. I would love get my epic but I may have to wait for the nerf...lol.

You don't really need to do the die-pull trick. When the boat is pulling up you can pull and kill the first set of adds before Jones walks over.

It's best to have more than one class with an AE immune (many do via AAs) and chain them one after the other. Everyone should have the guild level 50 AOE signets as well to be safe. You will still get feared but AE avoids will negate the knockback/damage.
