Default Crit, DA, CA....how do we know?

Hello swash community,

I'm new to the game in terms of +Crit,DA,CA... so I'm wondering HOW do we know how to prioritize these things? I have received a lot of 'experienced' opinions regarding this matter, however I'm not willing to simply accept said opinions without some form of evidence. Do we, as a swashy community, have some sort of spreadsheet, or other device to evaluate our dps based on these variables?

I'm fully aware I may be asking a stupid question (ie: asking for too much, over simplifying the whole dps situation, etc. ) But, at the same time I think its worth asking. And just to put it out there...I'm totally willing to try and develop such a model. After all, I (like many others) simply wish to improve my character.

Regards,
Murff

It's really really easy to figure this out, with little to no math involved.

First off few things to note :

Crit effects both CA's and autos

DA effects only autos

+ CA mods only effect CA's

Now, any swash worth a shit will say the highest % ( based on actual parses ) of their overall zonewide dps will come from Auto attack.

Edit : I would wager to say the difference between auto attack, procs and Combat art dps between a swash for a zonewide is a 60/15/25 split % wise. Meaning 60% of a swashies dps will come from autos, 15% from procs, and 25% from CA's.

Therefore crits = first priority. Why? Because having 50% crit yields double the benefit then having 50% DA, since you will be critting on both your auto attacks and CA's, where as having 50% DA will only raise your auto dps.

DA = second priority because swashy Ca's more or less do shit damage, when compared to our rogue counterpart the brigand, therefore swashies rely more on auto attack then brigs do for their dps.

+ CA mod = third priority because as mentioned above our CA's really do not do a lot of damage so we will cap out on the +CA mod a lot sooner then other classes with high damage CA's. ( this can go two ways tho, because on one hand we cap out sooner so we can focus more on Crit/DA, but on the other hand other classes get more benefit the more + CA mods they have, while we won't )

So there you go, reasons why all swashies shud focus on Crit, DA, and then + CA.

Thank you for the explanation. It did help (also reinforces the info others have given me). Someone linked me a helpful link on the eq2 forums:

Now with Weapon DR calculation!: Critical Damage and You.. A guide to critical damage.

It helped me understand weapons a lot better. Not to mention the /weapon command in game is quite valuable. As i mentioned in the other forum, I think what I lack at this point is a good 'feel' for balancing out gear/stats with the variety of different group/raid situations I'll be in. For now I'll be working on that and just trying to get more experience under my belt.

thanks,
Murff

Alright assuming the best things to go for in order would be Crit / DA / CA Dam. Where would +haste and +dps factor in that list?

Wow nobody here knowledgable enough to answer a simple question? I figured this would be answered right away. Nevermind then.

Not everyone check the damn forum every minute.

MC > DA > +CA

DPS - You should be in MT so you don't need more of it (Adorn x2, Coercer, Dirge - STR Ring should not be needed).
Haste - Haste Item + Spurious Bravado

MC > DA > +CA (or DPS) > Haste
