Hello, I'm reletively new to EQ2 and still trying to find my "place" class wise.

I was and had many high end rogues in EQ1. I love big numbers and big DPS..


So far I have a 27 Assassin that I really do dig, fun to play, huge DPS, big Backstabs, etc.. But the guild (a starter guild, but none the less, we plan to raid at some point) I'm in has 3-4 active assassins, not including myself.

So I decided I'd try something different. I've read up on the utility aspect of Swashy's debuffs n such and it made sense.


So my swashy is only level 22, and I'm having a lot of fun with this class as well.



Question is, how do the end game scouts compare DPS wise?

By what I read Assa has the lead? But can swashy's hang. I understand, as a swash I'm probably bringing more "utility" / debuffs to the group/raid, so that allows me to justify some DPS deficiency.


Anyone have numbers? Every section I read in shows that "class" with the highest DPS of course... lol

If i parse 6.5K RW our best assin will do about 7.5k maybe more, our brig will always be around what ever i am
Btw tell one of your assassins to go brig or none of them will hit hight numbers .

End of line is swashies are awesome DPS and will always be, but are also very important as fare as utility goes.

Thanks for the honest feedback.

I'm looking through Brigs spells (abilities) and tryin to figure out what they have that adds DPS group wide? Most of their abilities seem to almost match exactly what the Swashy have.

Brigand: Defensive Debuffs
Swashbuckler: Offensive Debuffs

Brig = Make the mob easier to hit / damage, equating to more DPS (for the whole group/raid)
Swash = Make the tank take less damage, equating to higher survivability rate (for the person(s) taking damage)

Am I translating/reading that correctly?

Yeah, pretty much. I explained it the "short way"

Both Rogues have Defensive/Offensive Debuffs, it is just that one have more in one area than the other.

So, Brigand "specialise" in Defensive Debuffs, but they still have some Offensive Debuffs.
Swashbuckler "specialise" in Offensive Debuffs, but they still have some Defensive Debuffs.

Brigands get the better of debuffs btw, if that means anything to you.
