Default Re: DPS problems

I gave up on the ACT sounds. They were useful for a bit for me to understand what I knew, that autoattack would fire at a constant rate, determined by my buffs. I'll turn it on once more just to hear it go off when my grouped dirge says hes casting CoB, but then itll be gone forever.

Venser, course as he may be in forum, was very insightful about how to maximize my dps. I was plateuing at 4k (with current gear) and was literally beside myself with frustration. If I wanted to calculate algorithms I'd code for Sony, not play their game. So when he showed me tactics to use that actually increased my dps I was (am) exstatic.

These are some of the changes enacted. I had to conform a few AA lines to what this forum suggested for maximum dps. Lost a couple de-aggro abilities but /shrug if I challenge the tank then he needed challenging.

1.Turn off other peoples damage numbers that float over the mobs head. It was raid spam Im sure that was slowing me down and I wasnt fully appareciating or seeing what I was doing while mashing buttons.

1. Start with temporary buffs (4 yellows) and queue autoattack to start when buff is finished. Know how long your raid tank usually waits so you can be casting them and hit autoattack right when he calls "DPS in".

2. Under normal conditions cast 2 CAs between autoattacks. Be mindful how long they take and put a fast one with a slower one, for Swathe it might be your only one or finish a HO you started.

3. If you run out, jump back and fire off a Velium Throw, use rang
ed autoattack on the way back in and then toggle autoattack back on. When done right its seamless. I havent done it as smoothly as he did but im workin on it.

I am waiting for the last Shadows AA teir when I hit 170+ so my dps can only go up. The results of my ACT dont lie. I'm averaging 5k now (when I'm really tired) just on those improvements and Vens is kickin' me in the rear to hit 6k with what I have.

I'll be lookin for an item thats useful to me that has spell crit % to enhance my proc rate (shooting for 5-10% eventually) so the dirges might be upset, but theyd still better Chime. Oh, and when they hit CoB, only do one CA beteween autoattacks.

Cant wait to post parse in raid now.

Only difference for me really is opening with Temp Buff, then Eye Point.

Believe it or not, ACT slows me down. When I use the ding to signify auto attack I end up trying to hard to make it ding, call it a subconscious thing that I cant get rid of.

So I just watch for the spam of orange which tells me my auto attack has gone off and well lets just say my dps has improved a great deal.

No one needs ACT anymore to time auto attacks, just watch the little bar that came out with LU 51 if you can't handle doing it without any timers.

i still find it easier to just watch the orange numbers, the new bar from LU51 is way too much of a distraction and like was said b4, feels like i watch it to try to hard and miss a lot. so just stick with orange patrol ;O

TBH, I wish ACT never existed, and I wish there wasn't a need for it as far as timers go. But such is life.

And now we have a stupid bar to tell us when to Auto Attack. FFS.

I remember mobs in EQ1 giving plenty of warning before they blew the fucking life out of you. This whole timer bullshit is absolutely fucking retarded.

Down with ACT. And Down with EQ2 devs making us rely on third party programs to progress.

Who's with me?

I'm with you. Too much mechanics on the outside, not enough feeling. It's like making aimbots mandatory for an fps.

That's not a great way to start every fight. You wanna either get yourself a bar showing current Haste and DPS mods, or get yourself a Logitech G15 keyboard. It'll always show some important stats real time for you.

If your Haste and DPS is above 200, dont bother using Perfect Finesse. If DPS is above 200, dont bother firing Ruthless Cunning. Diminishing returns cause these buffs to almost have no effect, so you should wait till temp buffs from others wear off first.
