(Changed based on corrections I received)
Regarding Min/Max damage and Crits:
First, please know that a critical auto attack hit always hits for the (max dmg+1) of your weapon or CA.
Compared non-crit average weapon damage, a critical auto attack hit gives a bonus that is dependent on the ratio between the Max and the Min damage of your weapon.
A crit hit has a chance to hit for anywhere in between (
max dmg+1) and (
max dmg+1 + the crit bonus %). These numbers can be averaged into the bonus percentages below.
Razor sharp sabre, Ethereal Sabre, Meat Cleaver all have the same Low vs High dmg ratio (~5.6). This means that the bonus (the % that is added to the non-crit average weapon damage) you get from a crit hit, is for every weapon the same (weapon damage increase = about 77%, assuming a 100% crit rate)
Higher ratios make the crit bonus higher. This means that for the weapons above, you should look at the max damage in combination with the procs and the stats.
LifeSpike actually has a low ratio.. but the proc makes it a very nice weapon.
A crit hit with a CA always gives a 30% bonus on the (max damage +1) of the CA.
The CRIT BONUS STAT that has been introduced with TSO, is a different animal from what I described above. It applies an extra % bonus to the critical hit damage, as a whole. So a Crit bonus of 10 adds 10% extra damage to the crit hit (assuming its stat behaves in a linear way).
The autoattack damage coming out of all this can be multiplied further by having
- a high dps rating (200 --> +125% = x2.25)
- a high haste rating (200 --> +125% = x2.25)
- a high DA rating (100 --> +100% = x2)
(Assuming these max rates are still valid, they may be slightly off but I guess you get the point)
I left the STR stat out of the equation since this is usually capped anyway.
I hope I explained it sorta clearly. Please correct
(keep correcting) me when I made any mistakes. This stuff can become complicated
PS: Weapon Damage Rating =
(Low Dmg + High Dmg) / Delay
