Default Whats a Swash all about?

After posting in the general section, most referred me back to class specific forums to seek out the answers I seek.

Currently I'm trying to understand how the Swash/Troub/Dirge and Brigand differ. So I've come to the Swash forums hoping you fellow Swashies might shed some light on what your class is about. Specifically:

1) Do you solo well?
2) What is your role on raids?
3) Are you very gear dependant to perform your job well?
4) How does your DPS compare to say the other scout classes I mentioned?

Any Information would be appreciated.

Yeah, I noticed that it's a bit harder Post-EoF tho, Reach lines sucks for soloing too... get mobs trought floors in Kaladim =(. But in overall you can solo lots of stuff, even lvl 70-71-72^^^ named.

2) What is your role on raids?

Debuffs... <cough> DPS <cough>

3) Are you very gear dependant to perform your job well?

Well yeah... but not having uber end-game loot wont stop you from being a really good swash imo.

4) How does your DPS compare to say the other scout classes I mentioned?

It depend.. if a ranger or assassin really know what they are doing they can beat you. But if they dont know their class and you do, you'll own them. It really depend on the player skills, same thing for every class..

1- Swash can solo very well but how well depend on AA setup.

2- Debuffs first followed by DPS and in the rare occassion you get to tank.

3- Depens on what you wanna do with your swash. If you are mainly concerned about doing DPS then you will for hte most part need a good weapon(s), Upgraded CA's to adp 3 or higher, STR, Crit chance. Also when aquiring gear keep in mind you are a close ranged melee class so you will often be hit by AE's. Good idea to keep a few pieces around that you can swap for resist purposes. Cures are also useful during some enc's.

4- You can't say your DPS will also you higher then someone else. There are way too many factors to take into consideration. Player Skill on bother ends of hte comparison, Grea, Spells, Group makeups play a big role. Get to know what buffers suit the way you play and what you benifit from. This will differ a bit depending on AA's you choose.

Overall in my opinion a swashbuckler is one of the most well rounded classes in the game. Very fun to play.
