Default How to Swash it up.

    NEW SWASHBUCKLING 101 THREAD!

    Achievements:

    DPS:

    Group Set-Ups:

    Auto Attack:
]Auto attack in DoV is about 40-50% of our DPS because of stupid itemization. So do NOT miss auto attacks, if you delay them for a CA you will start seeing your parse strickle down. CA-CA-AA-CA-CA-AA and repeat. With more casting speed you may be to get 3 in. ROA from a Defiler will help you get 3 in as well. It will also insure DoM success.
DPS adorns are very helpful, for the boost the amount your base auto attack damage does.
Crit Chance makes your chance of critting a combat art and an auto attack higher.
Crit Bonus makes your crits crit harder.
Haste makes the time between your auto attacks faster

    Adornments:

DPS: Adornments are very straight forward. If you usually do groups or are a raider, you want to get as much DPS as you can. These adornments would include: DPS Mod, Multi Attack, Crit Chance, Crit Bonus, Haste, and +Skills.
[COLOR=#ffffff]Mutli Attack - Increases the chance to hit multiple times. 0-99 = % chance for a second hit 100-199 = an extra hit and a % chance for a third hit. 200-299 = % chance for a fourth hit. [\color]
    +Skills - Increases hits rates.

Survivability: If you are a PvPer or heroic soloer with bad gear and can't survive, maybe go for Adornments such as these: Defense, Stamina, Hitpoints, stuff like that.

    Casting Order:
There is no set casting order that is ideal. All fights are different. You just need to know when to cast what at what times, and this just takes practice and time trying new things and learning your class better. Its all about knowing the situation.

    Question concerning: Multi-Attack

After reading various forum posts, my understanding of Multi-Attack is as follows:

1-100% = chance to Double Attack (DA) w/ potential misses on any Melee Auto Attack

101-200% = chance to Triple Attack (TA) w/ potential misses on any Melee Auto Attack

    Is that correct?

The reason I ask is because I parsed myself on an Epic 90 Dummy with the following parameters:

lvl 90 Swashbuckler in Defensive Stance (Just to see if misses affected multi attacks as well as auto attack)

Piercing and Slashing - 485 skill
    Multi-Attack - 123%

Result with just my enervated (no off-hand) equipped were:

    424 - Successful Auto Attacks
759 - Potential Auto Attacks (includes misses)

    410 - Successful Multi Attacks
758 - Potential Multi Attacks (inclues misses)

    1517 - Total swings

The thing I'm wondering is why did ACT register 758 multi attacks (1 less than auto attack) When I theoretically have 23% chance to triple attack?

Conclusion: 100% Multi-attack is cap? Thoughts?

P.S. I exported the ACT parse to a text file and copied the text file into an excel spreadhseet so I could easily count the number of hits/misses on both multi and normal attacks. I will post these if anyone runs a similar test to mine and comes up with a different result.

You can only double attack until DoV. SO until then Multiattack cap is 100%.

Why would you spec all the way into debuffs, the line is worthless beyond maxing viserate, and thats only to use it with Flash of Power AA which you didn't even pick. Having only 4 points in kidney stab, our highest parsing non-temp CA is also dumb. Here's my current setup. (note the 5 in god pet is only for bristlebane, can swap that to something else not that it matters.) Also I have 3 in Slice n Dice since we dont use a brigand and those points could be moved to max poison damage if you want.

is how I would spec a swash. I need 1 point in the hate transfer because I'm OCD and 20% > 19%.

The original post isn't really much of a guide... right now it isn't much more than a less than perfect AA spec and a bunch of common sense. Explain what classes are best for your group and why, Deities / Miracles, Adornments, CA priority, etc.

It is good that someone is taking the first step and doing an updated guide though

Since Velious is incoming you might as well update your needs to include Multi Attack as well. This is suppose to be an UPDATED guide after all, and you might as well make it useful for inc expac.

Also your AA guide is terrible, what sticknstab said notwithstanding, you have no explanations as to why someone should pick that spec. I don't use that spec, I want to know why you think yours is the king's shit.

That or if you really want to save yourself the trouble, just copy Stick's spec into your post.
