a inspiration question

Im wondering what you guys do when you use inspiration in a raid?

I generally wait until i have upwards of 130+ haste ( 10 or seconds into a fight with zerker, buffs plus my own)
I usually wait for CoB to be called also ( would wait for dispatch but pvp server)

Heres the question do you guys use combat arts when you use inspiration or pure auto attack? Im normally using Chel draks shard and switch weapons to a 1.3 unhasted delay weapon.

I'm always MT swash so I use inspiration quite early in a fight. I rarely have an illusionist so the best I can do is hit Finesse and hope for a spurring proc. I think it's more important to use it more than once a fight. I tend to spam combat arts as fast as possible, especially since I'm using a GDoH.

Time with dispatch (if not in within the first 20 seconds then I hit it anyways)
Hope dirge puts CoB up at the same time
Time CA's like normal
Oooh and my new best friend for Inspiration is a defiler 33% reuse every minute so if I am in with the defiler get it before every inspiration. And every once in a while I will ask for cap before certain named fights.

Believe it or not you'll actually get more dps out of inspiration if you A) switch to a very fast weapon ( velium rapier or spear comes to mind, both cheap and easy to get, and have 1.3 sec delay) and B) do NOT cast ANY Ca's (ok maybe plunder) during inspiration.

First the reason you switch to a fast weapon, is even tho it may be exceptionally weaker then your main weapon, we won't be needing your main weapons damage nor stats, what ya want is pure delay, having inspiration proc 4-8 times instead of 1 time in 4 seconds is key. Also with hurricane it just makes an even bigger gap between the two.

I say 4 seconds because a lot of good weapons have a 4 sec delay ( gdoh, sod sabre, bisected etc)

You may think spamming CA's is more dps but its actually not, the fastest one can "spam" CA's is .8 secs with sailwind and 1sec w/o sailwind, so your auto attack is still faster then spamming CA's. (fastest you can get auto attack down to is .6 or .5 iirc)

With inspiration it's all about how fast u can get ur weapon and nothing else.

I personally use tumandramins (sp?) fang during inspiration on multiple mob encounters, why? Because it has a 1sec base delay and it's pretty much one of the fastest dw's out there, and it's cheap as hell to get lol.

yea Oro i have that ancient velium weapon ( its the short sword with 1.3 delay) you were talking about. I generally switch it out and spam the hell out of my ca's(wis/agi spec). But ive been thinking i might get more dps just auto attacking since my haste is above 150 usually.

I know RHotP was the weapon to have for Inspiration use, but from what I've picked up in chat, Hopeshredder (currently a dw) from Malkonis is one to try and get. I know I have it on my "want" list.

Has anyone factored in the fact that you only land 75% of auto-attacks, but CAs land almost 100%?

My last few raid parses, I landed 76% and 97%, +/- 1%, respectively.

Sure, you get more low dmg auto attack 'swings' in to proc more inspiration, but does that make up for not using the higher dmg CAs that are almost guaranteed to make contact?

I agree on the swapping to faster weaps..not sure yet til I see the math if I agree with just straight auto-attacking.

i got chel draks shard and i always time mine with RoA (Defiler aa) and our brig is pretty dependant to cast dispatch about 5 sec in the fight

and i also use CAs in between

I use all my cooldowns when they're up... if you don't then you're wasting time and lowering your raidwide DPS. Don't switch to a faster weapon, the damage from autoattack with your normal weapon(s) - assuming they're high end - will make up and surpass the damage from the few extra Inspiration procs you'll get from the faster weapon.
