Default Need some expert help...blah

Ok, so it was a normal day until my lunchbreak. I went home and turned on my PC and all i got was a blue screen with an error message: "Unmountable_Boot_Volume".

It said underneath that it may be from recently installed programs, but I haven't installed anything on it for a while now. Actually, i was up playing EQ2, browsing the internet, listening to music last night....my normal weekday night.

For those that know me, I'm a computer retard. So i wrote down the other error message at the bottom not knowing if it means anything or if it's helpful to diagnosing the problem....so just incase here it is:

***STOP: (0x000000ED, 0xc0000006, 0x00000000, 0x00000000)

Also, I used f8 to boot in Safe mode, Last known blah blah blah, and pretty much every other option, and it still goes back to that blue screen with that same error messages.

Please help....LOL

I think your hard drive just died. May it rest in peace.

Couple of links discussing the issue: http://www.richardsramblings.com/200..._volume-error/
http://support.microsoft.com/?kbid=297185

But yeah, it looks like something died.

http://www.daniweb.com/forums/thread41835.html
If you scroll down that link has some good information. Having never had this issue, I can't really say what is wrong, just gather information from what I can find online. Those links show various things you can try to fix it. With any luck it wasn't the whole system that blew up, just a section. ^.^

Not an entire PC. Parts can be replaced. Or maybe it is as simple as the previous poster's link. When I had that problem, my hard drive had to be replaced.

I'm hoping you have some rl friends who are computer geeks to help you hehe.

I concur

Computer parts are like light bulbs. You buy a pack of 3, screw them all in to the same light fixture in your bathroom. Magically 30 days later one is blown out but the others last another 5 years.

They go whenever they want to. The new drive you get could die 2 hours after you install it. Seagate has a 5 year warranty on drives though and has a speedy replacement service.

Unless he feed his Mogwai after midnight, its impossible that a cable became loose and he is able to see that blue screen which is booting off the drive the cable is attached to.

Not discounting the possibility of the Mogwai, but a friend used to have intermittent bluescreens and it turned out to be a loose/faulty S-ATA cable. He never had trouble again with the same disk after I replaced the cable. Cheaper to check that before buying a new disk, so just saying.
