You did, and it was too late by then. I've spent a few hours now trying to get it to fucking work. Oh yeah, it didn't come with SP1.

Vista Basic is horrible, just go back to XP Home SP2, or find a Dell disk with Vista Premium/Ultimate on it. Petgroup mentioned this in another thread.

If you have technet:
Windows Vista Service Pack 1

Also why did you opt for the 1GB 8800GT? I would think that would be a huge bottleneck with amount of stream processors it has.

It was 179 after MIR. Didn't see why not, and I've paypal'ed PG to get Home Premium

The Driver keeps telling me it cannot find any drivers compatable with the hardware

Anything I can find from 163 and up and I even installed the beta 174 driver. It seems the most stable with Vista Basic. When I get home, though, my XP Home install will be done on my second partition, so say good night Vista Basic. That will work until I can install Home Premium SP1

Pretty much just trash Vista Basic then install the drivers and you will be fine. Vista Premium/Ultimate is the way to go.
