Ok.. so a friends comp got heavily infested and a friend of hers did a complete sweep of the OS. Realized that they didn't have a copy of windows to reinstall so he used a copy from the military base that he works at.

Now, there is no sound at all on the computer. I went through all the normal checks and everything appears to be ok. So I figured it must be some kind of driver issue? Would this be a safe asumption?

Second problem is... when I try to download a driver it asks for a password to be able to do it. I figured this had something to do with the military copy of windows. Is there some type of work around for this?

any help is appreciated.. I'm a computer tard so be gentle..

download a cracked copy of windows burn it to a disk and reformat/reinstall

NVM.. I'm a noob.. I gotcha now.

something like tinyxp or blackxp. i use tinyxp, it works great, passes validation and everything so you can still use ms update.
