one and only time I had this happen, my MB took a dump on me, I opened the case looked at the Capacitors on the board and they all looked like frozen coke cans (bulging at the top) being an electronics guy I knew I was F-d... luckily the Processor and everything else was fine.

New MB and a fresh install and I was off to the Races.

Yup, I had the same symptoms when my MB went sour. I took it to CompUSA for diagnosis/repair.

If you have a built in video card, your memory might be bad, thats only the case if you only have 1 stick.

If you have an ATI or PCI express card, that could be bad.

Sometimes, the power supply can also be bad.

But in most cases its your motherboard or processor.

POST beeps help you determine what the problem is. If it doesn't even beep, you have one of the following problems:

Dead motherboard
Faulty PSU. Even if the PSU turns on, if it's not supplying enough power to the mobo, it won't even POST.
