Default Gaming cpu for you experts out there !

Every where I research everyone has a diffrent opinion. So I am asking here.

All other parts being equal 2gb ddr2 7800gt512mb ect ect.

Keep in mind this is for gaming only and not multitasking.
What would be the better cpu for example a

P4 775 3.8 ghz or a

Am2 x2 4400 or

Pent C2D e4500 for example.

Or just get the 4500 and overlock (1mins work) and then it wins

I wouldn't touch a P4 with a 10 foot pole.

He said P4 C2D, which I assume isn't a P4 at all, but a C2D. :O

No, he listed a P4, an Am2 x2, and a C2D. P4's are way dated, go C2D. The e4500 is a pretty old processor too though. If you can, save up a bit more, and get at least a e8400.

I'm an ultra noob. I don't know how to overclock. I have a C2Q 2.4, and I'd like to get it up to about 3.0 if its possible.

If you have DDR2-800 and a mobo that is overclock friendly just up the voltage to like 1.4, lower the multi to 8 and set the FSB to 400.

Should be fine.

Stay the hell away from AMD when it comes to gaming, my only advise.

YouTube - Broadcast Yourself.

(ive actually had a AMD Fireball(top of line in its day) CPU melt while playing SWG)

The only things that really improve gaming is CPU, Memory and Video Card/Monitor, just get the best you can get/afford. This stuff changes so frequently even it you got top of line in one month it wont be.

Also keep in mind 95% of games out there will not utilize dual or quad cores including eq2, but i would still recommend at least a dual core.

95% of older games don't, most new games do.
