I just upgraded to 2x8800GT, and they run every game (except maybe Crysis, but who gives a shit about that?) maxed out at 1920x1200 at 60fps.

I'll wait until there's something that actually requires that power down the road (or for Dell to start releasing 3840x2400 flatpanels).

i'm using the Dell 30" (2560x1600) and its absolutely massive... almost (but not quite =p) more than i need for ANY purpose. what the fuck are we going to do with a native resolution like 38x24? that's a lot of pixels/frame for a GPU to be driving...

XFX GTX 280 Review - Overclockers Club

$650. I'm gonna have to say - not very drool worthy. Yes, it beats the competition in nearly every test, but not by much. It keeps up with the dual cards decently(9800gx2 and 3870x2) which is a little impressive, but isn't this what happens each time a new one comes out? It does better at higher resolutions, so if you play at 1920x1200 and you have deep pockets...maybe. But you can get the 9800gtx which in most tests was real close to this, yet it is only $219. Get 3 9800gtx in tri-sli for the same price. Let's hope newer drivers for this in the future let it run even better.

Yes, let's get 3x9800GTXs and force you to get an nvidia board, or buy a GX280 and get a rock solid intel-based board. Easy choice there.

I agree this may not be the best, or the best for everyone, just pointing out how expensive the card is...3x a 9800gtx for <1.2x the performance. I'm not a huge fan of sli/crosssfire.

You might want to wait before spending $650 though, as the ati 4870 is due very soon and I've seen this will be in the $199 range. Then again if you are willing to spend $650 for a video card then it probably don't matter any way.

Im kinda spoiled by how quiet my cpu/gpu(8800gtx)/psu combo is under load at the mo, this card needs to be run cooler than the 88s by the looks of it

I just picked up two of these suckers off newegg, I don't know why really.. I don't really enjoy any computer games atm but what ever. I needed to upgrade from the 8800's anyways, they're getting boring and I'm sure something will grab my attention sooner or later.
