used rivatuner to make fan speed profiles now under full load it never goes over 61 deg c.

On overclock3d.net they have the Msi one at 40%, so yeah with a bump up in the fan, should run like cake. I also run a Cosmos case with some very large exhaust and intake fans, can't wait to install it when i get home, its xmas in june.

Re: GTX280 = drool worthy
So i installed my GTX 280 last night, and in fullscreen mode in Windows Vista X64 I saw a much higher increase in FPS, now here we go with the problem that bugged me with my 8800.
Before with my 8800 when i would go windowed in vista 64 it would chop my framerates, when i opened up ACT and Vent would go down some more. Now with the GTX 280 when i open Vent and ACT it drops me down to 10 FPS and lags me all to hell. Put it back in fullscreen mode and Viola ... FPS heaven.
Does anyone know if I ran a 2nd monitor for Vent and ACT if that would solve my problem and just run the game in Fullscreen? Thinking about hitting up office depot for 15" flat just for that purpose.
edited for specs.
Intel Dual Core 3.0 Ghz
8gb Ram
GTX 280 VIdeo card
2 X Raptor 10k RPM Hd's
Evga 780i mobo
750 Silencer PC & Power Cooling PSU

Hey, if it worked... ;)
After seeing the recent Crossfire benches for the 4870 I'm sorely tempted to get a pair and a new crossfire-capable motherboard, but I think I'll wait a bit longer...
I figure I'll move the Kentsfield Quad I have over to my backup and get a new X48, Laramie(believe thats the upcoming core), a pair of 4870X2s and some DDR3 around August.
I'm not playing EQ2 anymore so it isn't like I can't make do with my current rig for a while...

I'm in love with the 4870/4850 cards, and the price
AnandTech: The Radeon HD 4870 & 4850: AMD Wins at $199 and $299

Also, as far as price goes, don't expect to see any 1GB 4870s for awhile, and if you do they'll be crazy expensive.
The GTX 280 will remain the fastest single gpu card out, the 4870x2 might beat it but then you're dealing with a x2 solution of which most have been heavily reliant on drivers and thus shit.
I'm obviously a nVidia fanboy, but I'm not denying the 4800 series are nice, but nVidia can always lower prices, ATi is pretty much stuck.
Also nVidia is already working on die shrinking the 200 series to 55nm which will result in cooler running, less power consuming, better yield chips which of course can then be clocked higher and we all know what that means...

Any real nvidia fanboy would never have bought an ATI card in the past year...

Any 3xxxX2 aftermarket heatsink fits the 4870
And the temp differences are pretty major
