I'm an nvidia fanboi for saying tomshardware is TRASH? Sorry but Tomshardware IS trash. Whether it's nvidia vs. ati or whatever. I honestly don't care who makes my hardware, provided it is the best at the time, but the fact is tomshardware IS trash. Anybody who says it isn't hasn't been following the industry long enough to know what trash is.

Looks like AMD shares are a whopping $6.21 today, where nVidia is $19.37 and Intel is $22.13.

Re: GTX280 = drool worthy
by the way, price cuts hit on 7/3. Estimated $90 cut on the gtx280 and $30 cut on gtx260 however there are some that were cut more and some less than those because the retailers get to decide that. I think 260s were hitting low $300 and gtx280s were as low as $500, seen a few with MIRs lowering them to ~$460

Which has nothing at all to do with desktop videocards and everything to do with a mobile chip fuckup that is both nvidia/TMSC's fault?
Nvidia reports problem with laptop chips - Network World
Since they're taking $150-$200 million charge against Q2 earnings, of course their stock is going to suffer, especially with how all stocks are doing at the moment.
Even with this huge 30% drop for nvidia they're stock is still over double that of AMD/ATi, so what exactly is your point?

Would you care to enlighten us as to why you think it is trash? Or do we just go on your word oh great one. I read multiple review sites, typically just start at teknews.net which provides links to articles from a ton of sites, ars, toms, anand, xbit etc you name it. I fail to see how if toms hardware has a review with same consensus as the half dozen other sites that makes them trash? If that were the case then all the 4800 reviews are trash, guess we wait till you review it for us right? I read as many different ones as I can and make my decision.
Now your anger towards toms probably stems from something they didn't do or say right in the past so you automatically label them as trash, thats fine you can be shortsighted all day, I could care less.
Yea you probably have been following the "industry" longer, I only started in 1997, but again I could care less. I'll even edit my post with a different 4870 review from a different site just so some of the sand in your vag will trickle out and make you feel better about yourself.
While you are at it, could we get a Pinski approved list of hardware review sites so in the future noone else fucks up like I did and post a god forsaken tomshardware review?

How volatile the market is, how things can turn on the drop of a dime, literally...
TBH, you brought up the stock thing, I was strickly talking about the quality of product released, not what the general investor thinks of their money making capabilities...

Actually, it is being reported now that the "entire" line of G84 and G86 chips are bad. Not just some laptop chips. nVidia has gone so far as to begin deleting threads at their forum related to it...
Only reason you aren't seeing major stories of failures in those two lines of desktop parts is because it's a thermal cycle "numbers" issue with the die's substrate, and you just don't see the same number of thermal cycles on a desktop part as you would on a mobile...
Will be interesting to see how this debacle unfolds over the next couple months or so...
Edited to add:
It's true that nVidia's stock is still well above AMD/ATI. I'm sure that will be of great comfort to all those investors who bought $50,000 of stock that is worth $25,000 now.

Re: GTX280 = drool worthy
For those that insist on nvidia, they just dropped the GTX280 to $499 MSRP and the GTX 260 to $199. For $500 though I'd personally get the new 4870x2 which should be $499 MSRP.

Re: GTX280 = drool worthy
I haven't read the reviews yet myself, but saw some posters on another site saying the 4870x2 is about equivilent or worse than the 9800 gx2, and the gx2 is only $370. It's still early yet though, we can hope on better drivers.
