Hrm, I guess 3 years is a good time to wait in between computer upgrades. Can't believe I got lazy, but well worth the wait.

I think, or would assume, they're lower clocks due to the power/heat requirements that the card already has.

Considering its the same core essentially as the 9800GTX with more shaders, I don't see any reason why it wouldn't overclock well.

However, imo, the main draw of the card is the bus/ram, since the 9800GTX already destroyed shader intensive games but was kind of meh on titles that required a lot of ram for textures or when you cranked up the AA.

This card *should* be the best of both worlds.

Supposedly retail is $649, but I wouldn't be surprised to see it drop to $599 pretty fast.

Considering I paid $349 for my 9800GTX that's a nice upgrade for another $300 bucks.

FYI they are already taping out the GPU die for the revision "B" of the chip because there are some major issues with the A version.

With the revision "A" at a HUGE 24mm x 24mm die, (576mm square) and yields, per wafer, of less than 40%, this chip isn't going to be profitable, AT ALL. At 10.5" it may not fit many cases and it uses 238Watts using a 6pin AND an 8 Pin connector.

I have $2k set aside for upgrades this year. 0$ is going to this card. I'm waiting on the Rev B. It'll be cooler, faster, and cost a minimum of $50 less because of the upcoming die-shrink.

For your info every card since the GTX has been that long, including all the 8800s everyone has been using.

Also 6pin and 8pin isn't uncommon either, and is required by the 3870x2 for instance.

I am hoping in a few month's to upgrade to that puppy. Looks like I will wait out for a price drop and a couple revision's.
