Computer shutting down
So fairly recently my computer decides to shut down completely when playing eq2. It seems to shut down when either i turn the graphics anything above absolute minimum or when i'm standing around for a while on absolute minimum and then start moving. Dell tech guys have no idea and have tried several things including getting updates on their site as well as wiping the harddrive and starting over. This problem seemed to start when i got a new motherboard installed, but when the Dell guy came again and installed another new motherboard thinking that one was the problem, nothing changed. Any ideas?

Re: Computer shutting down
I can feel the fan moving, and the bottom actually feels cooler than it usually does.

Re: Computer shutting down
Yeah i do have vista. Just seems weird that it just started up when i got the motherboard installed, yet when it was replaced again, nothing changed.

Re: Computer shutting down
Screams heat to me, maybe even a lack of epoxy when they switched out mother boards? Maybe a bad video card. Hard to diagnose.

Re: Computer shutting down
Yeah, it sounds like a heat issue. I had the same problems awhile back with one of my computers and it ended up needing to replace the heatsink.

Re: Computer shutting down
Is it actually going through the shutdown process, or powering off abruptly?
If it's the former, software is triggering that. If it's the latter, you've got an issue with a component, quite possibly the PSU.

Re: Computer shutting down
ya i get the same exact thing with Vista..its a heat issue not sure any way to fix it cept make sure the heatsink and fan are working and put something like an inch tall under it so it keeps the air flowing.
