Sweet price on 8800GT 256MB

Just found this today on Newegg.com for anyone wanting a great upgrade for CHEAP.

yes I know it isn't the 512MB version but for $69!?! If you are stuck with something like X800, 6600, 6800, x1900 or even 7000 series or older and have PCI-e this is a sweet buy for $69.

Like I said if you got some $$ def don't get this but if you got a POS like FX series, or a x800, x1600 or something even older and you have very limited funds this will be a good card for $69,

Just googled a review for it on some obscure site so who knows how legit (no pun intended) it is but here is a review on it. If you already have something like an 8600GT then you wouldn't want to bother with this. Again just put this out there for the less tech savvy people on very limited budget who want a better card, use the info as you see fit.

buddy, when it comes to GPU's you phrase "you get what you pay for" usually applies. at least within the general breakdown of price points. there's a reason this thing is $69 while the rest of the market for serious gamers is still aimed at the $250-400 range.

and of COURSE if you have some ancient piece of shit this will show dramatic gains. anything would. how about staying WITH the fucking technology curve instead of 3 years behind it? $180-200 is not a lot of money and will keep you close enough to the bleeding edge to not regret a purchase.

also, i shit on 256MB of VRAM. wtf? can you find a 128MB card for $39 to recommend next? how about integrated graphics? that's FREE! OMG CANT BEAT THAT PRICE.

I asked because I got this card as a stock card with my PC. A serious 7xxx series card blows it away, and it has practically zero resale value.

100% agree with you it is a crappy card in the scheme of things but you fail to look at it from the standpoint of someone WHO CAN'T AFFORD more card. That is all.

yea it must be a 8600, in which case a 7800, 7900, or 7950 would beat it (but not a 7600). But a 8800GT, 256 or 512, will beat all of them easily.

I recently went from 19": 10x7 resolution: 7800gt 256mb to 24": 19x12 res: 8800gts 512mb and up about 30% fps in this game. Synthetic benchmarks ~doubled for the most part.
