Just put together a pc, and it wasnt working at all. checked wiring, rechecked it, and finally noticed on the 24pin cable i connect to the mother board, there was a wire missing on one of the pins.

its number 17 (GND).

the power supply is whats fucked i think, because i plugged it into my old pc and it wouldnt turn on, but with the old psu the new power button powered up the old psu.


would this be the problem? I can try to take a pic if i can find a camera.

if so, god damnit newegg I hate you.

BTW, look for a test button, or a test pin-hole. Most PSUs have them and you should see the PSU fan turn on once pressed-- assuming it's not broken.

Pin 17 isn't necessary, as there are plenty of other grounds. Lots of PSUs don't include it. Your problem lies elsewhere in the PSU.

Also, you don't have the voltage switch on the back at the wrong setting or anything, right?
