Sadly, and I really can't believe this, I think you are right sir.

Or something along those lines...

Gateway M-6862 Laptop Intel Core2Duo T5750 2.0 Ghz, 4GB RAM, 250 GB HDD, Dedicated Video Card, HDMI, Wireless-N $525/$425 A/C Best Buy BM YMMV!!! - SlickDeals.net Forums

There is a nice laptop for cheap, I wouldn't call it a top end gaming one, but eh is the one I mentioned.

Might be ok for games that use dual core, but eq2 on 2.0ghz is ugly.

and 1080p=1900x1080, so 1900x1200 is even higher definition than 1080p. Call it 1200p, lol. And yea, been around for awhile, but maybe without it being called "HD".

If I remember correctly, EQ2 will be utilizing multiple core processors here soon

Odd how it's quoted at that price, in an open forum, and the link to where it was purchased from reads $749.99

It's also not incredible as you pointed out, but for the price it's not bad...Only edge it has on my Toshiba is more dedicated memory for the mobile GPU, though mines a 3470 versus that older 2600.

I just hate Gateway, HP/Compaq, Dell and eMachines (I don't hate all pre-built companies, my brands of choice being Toshiba and Acer).

If I remember correctly, the mobile 2600 > mobile 3470... Just going off of what I have seen @ slick deals and notebook reviews I think was the other one. This issue came up when my GF bought her laptop a while back.

*edit*

List for proof...

Umm, you guys shouldn't try applying marketing terms to everything. Calling 1900x1200 1200p is naive at best. Just adding a 'p' to the vertical resolution doesn't make sense at all. For its credit, it is not a marketing term but an indicator. I for interlaced encoding and P for progressive. (Not to be confused with I/P frames in video codecs) Progressive being better because each frame has all advertised pixels while interlaced has alternating blank lines.

There are only very few real resolutions that use those indicators, so don't be making them up. They also refer to the encoding of the source video, not the destination screen. Any screen that has larger pixel dimensions could be considered ready for that video format. Playing a 1080p video on a 1900x1200 screen would just result in a video with tiny black bars at the top or bottom. It certainly wouldn't increase the quality to 1200p. Especially because the width cannot be expanded to compensate for a 16:9 resolution with square pixels. I don't know why you would want to watch a video with an incorrect aspect ratio. But all 16:9 TVs I see running 4:3 content all stretch the picture to 16:9 which looks retarded to me, but most people accept it.

As someone else said, calling something HD probably just means it has the proper optical drive and a screen with large enough pixel dimensions.

It just means that all of the people with 16:9 TVs that I see are retarded... which is perfectly believable considering it's mostly in bars.
