I suppose I should be fair about this. Decoding 1080p in software is no joke. There is a lot of data to stream through. Add to that, Blu-Ray and the like are also encrypted, so you have two processes to compute in real-time.
I've seen my Athlon X2 6400+ (3.2GHz per) try to decode a 1920x1080 video before and it actually maxed out the core it was using during some select moments. I had to find a multi-core codec to play it in its entirety without any slowdowns.
