Help with reformat
So I am trying to reformat my PC with Vista 64bit. It installs windows with no problem, but then when I run Windows Update and it does its thing and installs the updates and reboots.
The problem is after the update it wont reboot. I get that screen that says your something like "How do you want to start windows...safe mode, safe mode with Networking, ect." No matter what I pick the computer just starts this endless rebooting cycle and end up back at "How do you want to start windows?" screen.
Suggestions?

Re: Help with reformat
Don't install it with updates? Then after all your drivers get installed, download the updates.
Other than that, try installing it with 1gb of Ram only. I thought I read something somewhere about Ram hanging things up.

I second this. I had similar trouble installing Vista 64 on my current comp. It did the initial install fine and then wouldnt come back up after the first reboot. Taking out a stick of RAM worked. After installing drivers and Service Pack 1, I could then put in the other stick of ram without issue. (2x2GB sticks)

Man, the questions that you ask are just bizarre.
Vista 64 can use 4GB+ of ram, 32bit does not. You can install 4GB in 32bit but you only get between 3-3.25. Thats just the start.

Name one x86-64 program that normal people would run on their pc. 99.99% of all windows software max out at 2gb. And thats just the start, lets not get to drivers issue, then you would look even more retarded.

I don't know about you but I run more than 1 program on my computer. When you have 2gb of Ram, how much is FREE after Windows is fully booted?
As it stands right now with my 64bit Vista, after a fresh boot and just eq2flames open, my memory in use is 34% of 4gb. Thats well over 1gb in use without launching a single program manually. So what happens if I only had 2gb now you fucking moron.
Driver issues? Its fucking 2008. Honestly, go fill someone else's forum with horribly misinformed information.

I had vista 64 on my laptop for over a year and 2 of the main thing I use every day still doesn't work with Vista64. Windows home server and my iphone. So yeah, watever float your boat buddy, if you're using 34% of you memory just running a browser, maybe you should turn off some of those startup programs rookie. Here's a tip from uncle Eman to you, MSCONFIG, use it well young jedi.

I had the old iPhone and the new one both used since day 1 from Apple on 64bit Vista and then Sp1. I had 0 problems myself. My iPhone is plugged in right now. I bet your issue is user error.
Just booted my Vista into Diagnostic Mode (which runs none of my shit and only windows), 19% of my memory was in use. Thats almost a gig. I already knew the answer but wanted the exact number to show you how fucking clueless you are. This is Vista we are talking about, not fucking XP. Maybe XP running in diagnostic mode on my computer would drop the mem use down to under 5% but THIS IS FUCKING VISTA you jackass.
For you to even suggest Msconfig to me to shut off my programs is laughable. I have posted over a dozen times in various threads about HijackThis.
You know when you look at msconfig for non windows services and startup programs, you will see 3-5x more things using HijackThis. Thats a a huge difference rookie. Maybe thats why your iPhone doesn't work.
Give me 10 minutes on your computer and whatever "mythical" iPhone issue you have will be solved. I'll even log in for using LogMeIn Rescue and fix it for FREE. You can cancel whatever I'm doing at anytime if you feel uneasy. Right after you send me your email for that 50" plasma you have in your garage that you can't give away...................... Assclown.

blah blah blah, dude clam down. We don't need you to go GA GA over free programs that people already known for years.
BTW Here it is, Panasonic TH-50PH11K 50 in plasma laying in my garage. TV doesn't have a stand, I lost it a long time ago, but I do have the wall mount for it. My address is 539 Johns Pass Ave, St Petersburg, FL 33708. First one with $100 at my door gets it. So Petboy should I expect your pussy ass to put your money where your mouth is?
