In the deal I posted earlier in this thread, you could have "technically" got 3- 50 inch 720p plasmas for the price of that one tv.
And spending $5000 on the tv you have, I coulda had 8 rooms with 50inch plasma tv's for that price. Yay for having 6 extra inches and 1080p for $4400 more.................

Why not wait till black friday? Got my sylvannia 42" 1080 for 799 @ BJs, saw it on slickdeals after some coupons and live cashback it was like 599 shipped... BTW, I think 1080p makes a big difference at least my ps3 agrees with me when the blu rays get going I have watched pirates of the Caribbean on hd cable and on blu ray, let me say that it was 100 times better on blu ray

1. The ln40a650 price on the street is $1200 not $1800, only retards pay msrp.
2. I have a 50in panasonic plasma in my garage right now and I couldn't give that sucker away. The thing is hotter than my big green egg on a Sunday evening (google it if you don't know what I'm talking about). The bottom line with plasmas is that they are giant space heaters, I have to set my AC at 70 degrees with that thing on.
3. My house have 1 living room, 3 bedrooms, an office and a game room. Why the hell would I want 8 giant hot plasmas hanging all around? Thanks but no thanks. I stick with my ultra cool LED TV (btw it's $4400 not $5000) You just like to pay MSRP don't you.
4. You "Deal" isn't really a deal because its dead, bestbuy is just trying to empty the inventory of stuff nobody wants.

http://www.answers.com/topic/1080p
Various television networks in the world broadcast HDTV programming in 1080i and 720p; no 1080p broadcasting exists at this time.
Thats why everything is better on Blu-Ray.

First things first. You linked the tv. I clicked on the link that showed the price. I'm not gonna go research what it scales. If thats the case, get it on eBay for less than any price you find online.
Second, I'll give you $100 for the 50" plasma that you can't give away. I will even pay for shipping and have DHL pick it up on Monday, let me know your email address and I will Paypal you the cash right now, otherwise I can next day you a business check.
Third, yeah 1 tv is better than 8 but then again you got so much cash Ludicrous came to your house and pimped your garage with a plasma. I'll watch MTV for your cribs tour. You like to contradict yourself in every reply. You say I like to pay msrp don't you? Donkey, I was on slickdeals.net and paid over 50% less for the TV then the msrp. You saved $400 on 5k. Congrats on getting fucked.
Fourth, My deal died because everyone wanted it, theres 40 pages worth of replies from people. How on earth can you say no one wanted the tv when the thing sold out in the same amount of time Patriots tickets did (sucks for them now though).
Something tells me that Chris Angel is gonna magically make that "can't give it away" plasma disappear.

I know this, and the argument from Gaige, and some of the above, was that 1080p doesn't make much of a difference on a TV smaller than 50"... So I sent a shot back at them, saying how I know and have personally witness the difference. I have comcast, so cable is 720p, like I said the differences are huge. Large enough that even my GF, who doesnt give a shit, can notice them and say, wow wtf didnt think it would be that much of a difference...

All you had to do was click on my link and the first sentence there confirms what Gaige said to an extent.
Refers to the 1920x1080 "progressive scan" HDTV format. Also called "Full HD" "True HD" and "Ultra HD," 1080p provides the highest resolution in the HDTV standard. However, on TV sets with screens smaller than 40", it may be difficult to distinguish the difference between 1080p and 720p, the lower of the HDTV resolutions.
With that said, I now segway into the link of the tv posted by the current most clueless individual on Tech Support:

So yeah take the "HDTV Guru's" advice and pay so much more $ on a 39" TV that you can't tell the difference.

You must be one of those noobs that just worry about resolution and pay attention to nothing else. I didn't just recommend that tv because it's a 1080p tv dumbass. It also has 120hz refresh rate (aka much sharper moving pictures). 50,000:1 Contrast ratio = some of the best black level on a lcd tv. Exellent color accuracy right out of the box as well from what I heard. May noobs like you can't tell the differrent between HDTVs, that's ok, I heard they're having a Vizio sales event at your local Walmart for people like you.

Re: Buying a new TV
Thanks for all the advice. I'm going to be putting it in an enclosure thats like 41" max. That 39" looks dope but I don't know if im ready to drop that much $ on a tv that isn't huge for the living room, this is just going to be my personal tv. Looks like the westinghouse 37" is the best bet for price/quality.

Re: Buying a new TV
I don't like the westinghouse TVs... Don't get me wrong, their lcd monitors aren't half bad (colors arent always the best on the ones I have seen, but eh). Just make sure you get a warranty if you are going to get a "Throw Away" brand.

Re: Buying a new TV
Brand loyalty is pretty dumb tbh. If you guys ever read real HT forums you'd see that what matters in regards to LCD monitors/televisions is who made the panels.
While I understand not everything is a Pioneer Elite, there have been many Westinghouses and Vizios and other lower tier products that have gotten plenty of amazing reviews.
Just saying.
Oh and 1080p is dumb if your tv is small, unless you're playing gmaes on it, true story.

Sylvania/Funai > Westinghouse/Vizio true story. I also paid less even during black Friday for the better quality.
