Default Buying a new TV

Mainly for xbox and movies, possibly may hook my pc up to it. Around 32-37 inches. Obv going to at least get lcd so is there anything i should look out for or actually avoid when getting a new one? 720 or 1080? Just looking for some info from people who already own as i've been using a 50 some odd inch tube for years.

I have a 42inch Sharp myself - but my brother and Aunt both have a Visio 37inch, and for the price it's an actually very comparable picture (I have a Aquos) - and overall a really nice TV.

If you are hooking up a Blueray / PS3, etc - then I would go with the 1080p, since they both natively use that resolution.

If you are using FIOS as your cable provider, then as well go with the 1080P - but if you are using Dish, DirectTV, or cable then a 720 will be fine for broadcast TV.

Yeah definatly get 1080, personally i have:
Toshiba 40ZF355D
(Toshiba 40ZF355D - Regza ZF Series - Toshiba Home Entertainment UK

It works well with my PS3, and it also has a VERY thin edging around the screen, not like more flat screens. i think it just makes it look alot better in your room with having a big screen, not just big bulk of plastic

I just purchased a 46" Samsung LN46A550 1080 HD LCD TV with PC and HDMI inputs at Fry's for $1399 with a $200 rebate.

I love it.

I just got this tv from Best Buy to hang above my fireplace:

Samsung - 50" 720p Flat-Panel Plasma HDTV
Samsung - 1200W 5.1-Ch. XM-Ready Home Theater System with Upconvert DVD Player
$977, Free Shipping but dam tax.

From the posting on Slickdeals.net

It's sold out now (big surprise) but I am going to try my hardest to get the TV for $600 because Best Buy fucked up and applied a $400 discount to the TV and not the home theater like it should have been. Theres over 30 pages of posts from today stating how people are going to try it. Well worth my time to have that tv for $600 if it all plays out, otherwise I'll eBay that home theater like everyone else is going to.

If only you made this post at 8:00 AM

From what I understand it's just 1080p on demand I don't know of a station that broadcasts 1080p off the air.

Also, only girls use 1080p now, I'm all about the Quad HDTV goodness:

TG Daily - Samsung demos 82” 2160p HDTV
