Default My new PC...

So I finally broke down and bought the stuff for a new PC. Gage didn't think I'd do it, but I did - FU GAGE!! I debated a long time about getting a SSD and ended up going with the regular - pretty much because of the price difference. I had originally had 8gb of DDR3 1600 but dropped 4GB and went with the DDR3 2000. I'm not sure how much of a performance difference I'll see but I saved money and can upgrade later when I get the SSD. All in all I think it's pretty decent. It's been a while since I actually put one of these together so I have a bit of trepidation but I have a few days before the stuff arrives so I can study up a bit.

I'd have been seriously tempted by the new 5870 too, its producing some very nice benchmark figures.

Does that copy of Vista come with the free upgrade to W7? That'd be my only criticism, since you asked. Hopefully it does! =)

Everything looks pretty solid, I'm partial to the I7 line over the I5, and as far as case I would reccomend the Antec 1200 or the Cooler Master HAF 932 over the Scout, but either way is win.

He was looking at the HAF 932 but I told him to go with the Scout because he didn't need a full tower and he was pinching pennies.

Yea, that was the first one I had picked out. I've never used a Coolermaster case before but I've heard some good reviews about them.

If it was my build only thing I would change is corsair PSU (i'm partial) and a 860 i7 along with a seagate storage drive and SSD performance drive. The 860 would add some extra cost along with the SSD however.

Ya, cost was his issue, trust me I tried to shove the SSD down his throat.

I'm partial to Corsair PSUs as well but the Antec 750 newtrue is hard to beat at $104 which is what newegg is selling it for atm, seriously:

Antec Truepower New 750W Review

I don't believe there is currently a psu that can beat it in that price range. If it was going for $169.99 which is msrp sure the Corsair is a better bet, but not when the Antec is only going for $104.
