All I did was check in the direct sound box and selected the motherboard speaker or whatever and it works now.

UAC soured a lot of people on Vista. They never should have enabled it as a default option and it's still terrible in Win7 despite the annoyance-slider.

In theory, that shouldn't fix it. Pay close attention and you may notice what appears to be other people lagging, talking all at once, or being queued in with no sound. For a while I just thought they were lagging or the server was lagging. But it's Win7, and I believe it's a byproduct of the way it prioritizes CPU by choking off Ventrilo.

No problems with Ventrilo on W7 x64.

But, first I thought I had no incoming sound in Ventrilo, until 20 minutes later Lithin realized he had his mic on mute...

I have experienced this intermittently. There is other people who were complaining about this exact same issue on the Windows 7 forums. Alot of people upgraded to the newest Ventrilo client, as most of the complaints came from the 2.xx versions of Vent.
