Re: Internet security programs for Windo 7 64 bit
AVG has become trash imo.
First it puts hidden $AVG folders on all your HD's and maintains an active link to them. While this speeds up scanning it makes swapping or ejecting drives a pain and there is no option to disable its link. The feature can also interfere with drag-n-drop devices that mimic storage. Last thing I need is AVG writing shit to my MP3 player...
Version 9 removed the ability to close AVG and now you can only disable the resident shield portion. If you want to benchmark, free up resources or trouble shoot, you'll have to run msconfig to prevent AVG from starting then reboot.... every time.
Lastly their forums are a complete and utter joke. If you have the exact same problem as another user and you post you version of the problem in their thread, its removed and your warned about hijacking. That pretty much prevents any collaboration and problem solving between users, which sucks because the volunteer moderators are worthless and they never look at your issue objectively (basically huge AVG fanboys).
