AMD 5850 would be a good card would be a bit over the $200 mark but not by much. Otherwise I'd pickup a 4890 if you can find one under $200 or 4870

Yep from Ibuypower....I also had some heat issue's after a while so I put a after market fan on the GPU and CPU and didn't have anymore problem after that....put the new fans on about a year ago.

Yea I keep hearing a lot about this AMD 5850 is it really that good of a card??

I also keep hearing a lot about the Nvidia 260 and 275....but the $275 is kinda expensive.

I want to try and stay around $350 max and if I can find a nice card for @ $200 or so I can spring for a new CPU at the same time. The CPU that some have recommended is Intel Core2 Duo E7500 Wolfdale 2.93GHz - $119.99 any thoughts on this???

Thanks a ton for all the help so far guys and gals! I am having EQ2 withdraws I need my fix !!

The 5850 is probably the best price/performance card out right now if you can find one.

Much better then the GTX260/275 and if about as future proof as you can get right now (with the 58xx series having Direct X 11 support)

I have the 275 and its a nice card for sure, but if you can find one the 5850 is the card of the moment.

I use a 4870 and don't really see myself getting a 5850 or better until performance in my games starts to drop off (future games at some point)

Well it seems every where I go folks are recommending the AMD 5850 card as the card of choice right now. So think I am leaning that way, while I am at it I would also like to upgrade my CPU. Current CPU is processor (intl core 2 duo processor E6700 (2x 2.66ghz/4mb L2 cache

Have had some suggest this Intel Core2 Duo E7500 Wolfdale 2.93GHz - $119.99

Would I see a nice performance improvment with the new card and that CPU vs my old card and CPU?

With the new CPU you're going to see some very noticeable improvements in EQ2. GPU yes, especially if you do GPU shadows. You'll see the GPU shine really in other video games.

Well I wanted to give a update on my problem. Sadly I am still waiting on my new card, everyone on earth seems to be out of stock!! I really want that card so what I have decided to do is buy a diffrent card to hold me over for now until my preffered card comes in. Then when it does I will use the hold over card to upgrade my wife's pc and slap in the nice card into my pc hehe

Now does anyone have a suggestion on a decent card that I can buy for now to hold me over that is not crazy expensive but will work with EQ2 and look ok?? Really want to try and stay between lets say $100 to $150'ish on this hold over card.
