Default wireless stereo headphone advice needed.

I don't care if it is IR/RF/BT...

I just need a good set, with great sounding everything, from gaming to music to tv.

Primary use will be gaming.

I only bring this up because I just moved to a new apt, and the lady next door is already btiching about exploding noises @ 2am while I play MW2.

So far the only set that has caught my attention is the astro a40.

Thanks in advance.

I have a pair of JBL Reference 610 Bluetooth 'phones... battery life is not enough for a day of gaming - but will last through most raids if fully charged (Though tonight I've had them on for the last 7 hours and they're still going). If you plug in the charger they no longer operate in bluetooth mode - completely retarded design there. My first pair broke from my fat head I guess, but it was replaced under waranty and this second set is doing fine. Very comfortable and excellent sound quality. Can also plug them in wired. Included ipod bluetooth adapter won't connect to any other bluetooth device.

I also have some LG bluetooth behind-the-head headset I got off newegg which are too small and uncomfortable, and audio quality isn't up to par with the JBLs, so I wouldn't recommend that set. Perhaps little girls can use it jamming to mp3s on their cell phones - but it's not my cup of tea.

I also have a Plantronics Voyager 855 bluetooth stereo-convertable earbud set which I haven't bothered to try out too much since I have other things that work. Audio quality is better than the LGs - no clue on battery life as again, I haven't tested it much - I prefer over the ear full cups vs earbuds (or at least on-ear like bose qc3)

Bluetooth specs don't allow for stereo audio at the same time as operating a microphone however, so if you're looking for a headset for vent/teamspeak/in game voice chat/etc.. stay away from any of those - using them for voice will drop the audio to low-quality mono. But if you're looking to use this on xbox/ps3/etc that probably rules most of those out anyways.

I also was able to snag a couple pairs of Rocketfish (a Bestbuy brand) RF-WHP02's off ebay for pretty cheap. One died within a week, but it still ended up a pretty good deal for the other working one. The foam padding is very hard and uncomfortable - but you get used to it - I'd recommend swapping it out for something softer if you can. However, battery life from the rechargable AAs it uses is great. I also find it much more convienient to be using onboard audio or a sound card than to have to connect bluetooth devices before I start eq2, or relog if batteries die. These rocketfish headphones use a digital signal, so you either get a perfect signal or nothing (maybe a few blips and bleeps as you walk out of range)

I also have a pair of Sentry H0800 headphones that I picked up at the local drug store for maybe $20. They use AAA and don't have thier own recharging unit. You'll want to get a 12V DC transformer to power the transmitter, or you'll end up robbing your neighbors smoke detectors for 9v batteries every couple of days. Sometimes, even if the headphones are touching the antenna, I get horrible interfearance/static... and don't even think of turning them on with the base station turned off - loud white noise. Analog RF headphones for the loss! If you turn the volume knob up more than 5%.. the whole thing rattles and signals get clipped - horrible quality at anything but low volumes. But they do for a backup pair if everything else runs out of juice.

Alas, I'm still searching for my dream wireless stereo headset.
