I have a G15 that I've had for a few years now, and I love it, although to be honest it never really worked like it should have, because the 2nd day after I bought it I spilled Iced Tea all over it and the LCD display never worked nor did the macro buttons. So essentially all I used it for was a normal keyboard that was also backlit.
So now it's starting to act up on me and I'm gonna be getting a new keyboard. I want something that lights up first and foremost, and was looking at the G19, but that looks like it has to be plugged in for power as well and I don't know how I feel about that. Any G19 owners care to comment on the LCD display and if it's worth it?
I'm also really liking this keyboard: Newegg.com - Corsair Vengeance K90 Black/Metal USB Wired Gaming Performance, MMO Mechanical Keyboard
Thoughts?
Ive destroyed a few g15's with beer spillage and stuff over the years but I have managed to keep a g19 going for a couple of years now..
Plugging the shit in is no problem as any decent PC peripheral seems to need its own power supply these days.. Can set the keyboard up to
illuminate any colour you want with the backlighting .. The WASD keys dont wear off and go see through like the old blue g15s used to do..
and you can watch porn in full colour on the little LCD screen during raids if your that way inclined![]()
Only g15 here however have had it for a few years now and also am finally going to replace it with a mechanical keyboard as i've read they're much better and getting tired of slow, sticky, noisey keys.
From what i been looking at its between the Razer Blackwidow Ultimate or that Corsair K90. People here have recommended the Razer before and compared to the rest i've looked up on it has the most features i am looking for however now with the Corsair being backlit i may go it. Also Corsair uses cherry mx reds(least force to use and no clicky sound) which if you have heavy hands may be too easy to press. Mx blues supposedly are preferred by gamers(think they at 50g's of force to actuate with clicky sound) and is used by Razers Blackwidow. However for myself i don't think thats an issue and i just don't like Razer's products as far as quality, they seem poorly made and been reviewed as so.
Unless you can't run dual monitors i would just go dual monitors and mechanical keyboard, doubt the g19 lcd can be all that great anyhow considering the g15's basic lcd.
You could just get the $250 Star Wars Razer keyboard with the LCD/LED keys on the right hand side....Heh.
Seriously though:

I've been using one for about 6 months, and have loved it so far.
My desktop is entirely Razer stuff now since I found Bargain Hunt in Nashville.

I've had a variety of keyboards. In reference to the ones in this thread I've had a G11 (g15 without LCD), Black Widow Ultimate, and Corsair K90 Vengeance. I'm currently using the K90 and I love it. Corsair has a long way to come in the software department (their shit is still pretty basic imo) but they keyboard is great.
Originally I had the G11. It was a fine keyboard but I wanted something mechanical. The Black Widow Ultimate was too loud for me, all I could think when I was typing was CLACK CLACK CLACK CLACK CLACK CLACK. Plus I wanted more then the 5 macro buttons, so I bought the K90. I love the K90. I personally think it looks pretty cool, it isn't as loud, and it feels really smooth. The macro buttons are a little weird (they don't stand off the keyboard as much, and aren't mechanical). I really like the volume slider on the keyboard, as well as the windows key lock button. I generally don't use the backlight, but it does look pretty nice with the way it reflects off the background a little bit.
I'd recommend the K90, but your results may vary. There was a brief problem where they pushed a firmware update and if you had a certain setting turned on somewhere (USB Sleep or something like that) the install would fail and turn the keyboard in to a basic keyboard (no macro keys, back light, or the special keys). A little browsing on their forums and I found the thing to turn off and everything was fine.
The one area where Logitech has an advantage is a lot of software recognizes their macro keys as just that, and you can bind to them without having to add some macro like you do with other keyboards. But that isn't enough to make me go back, I like the mechanical keyboards. The Razer software is definitely better, though I always see lots of complaints about build quality on their products (I've never had any problems either with the Black Widow Ultimate when I was using it, or the Death Adder mouse I've been using for 2 years).
I doubt I'll switch away from my K90 any time soon though, even if the software isn't as good. I might get a new mouse soon though (MMO 7 or Naga Hex I'm thinking, but haven't decided).

I use this keyboard, I chose it because it is a super slim profile, illuminated, nice feel to the keys - it's limited with regards to programmable keys but I don't require many. Logitech - Illuminated Keyboard
Friend of mine just got this one, and I love it - was about $80, but tons of incredible features to customize on the keys, even down to selecting multiple colors for two background areas. The profile is not as slim as the one I currently use, so for me that was a drawback, but very cool keyboard. Alienware TactX Keyboard Product Details
Happy Shopping!
The slim one looks nice and all. But really it's mechanical or bust basically. That K90 looks alright, the k60 might be more my speed, though no backlight sucks. I have the ancient school g15 with 18 macros that is the size of an aircraft carrier. I never use the macros so downgrading size wise seems smart.

if u want to get the black widow make sure you go for the stealth version im really mad about all my finger prints on the regulary one but i went from a g15 to the black widow and im really impressed so far. Its a lot heavier and feels like it is made to take a beating along with the smoothness i get when typing.
