Should I get the Dell U3011 or something else? I would use it mostly for my xbox, movies, and external for my laptop.

Why not a good 32" TV in this case?

I will also use it for my laptop/desktop and that will make use of it. I am also looking at not buying another monitor for a few years. I am somewhat hesitant too in that I really want an 120hz monitor in that resolution/size. Why the hell is there TWO NEC monitors on Newegg that are $2k+? Their specs don't merit that money. I don't see them as pro grade either.

So what? 3011 has something like 0.2505/0.2505 and for example u2711 has 0.233/0.233, so it's not the best choice and it doesn't matter that much at all for media content. My HP zr24w has something like 0.27/0.27 and it's pretty good anyway. Not to mention that for movies (full HD with a good bitrate of course)/xbox a good TV will destroy pretty much any monitor.
Tho, for normal use TV as a monitor isn't good at all, especially because of a pixel size.
It's less than its better, but rather whats the point of running such a high resolution if your content isn't even native to that resolution?
Outside of 2D, will his laptop even be able to do anything at that resolution anyway?
