Re: Report ALL suspected malware from ads on this site here
Is anyone gonna go nuts if I allow "popunders" in a few ads? Again, they would be scheduled to only happen a couple times per day, per user. Our ad agency has described them to me as follows:
Quote:
|
Pop-unders load behind the website, which makes them not annoying for visitors. Most publishers keep them, since they don’t get any complaints, plus they pay 10x more than banner advertisement.
|
PLEASE GUYS, CAN I HAVE THIS ONE LITTLE THING?

Re: Report ALL suspected malware from ads on this site here
Our ads are back up.
Our advertising agency has extensively gone through the ads being delivered to this site based on our feedback, and believes they caught the one that was causing us problems.
Firefox users should not experience any type of problem, and did not before.
IE users, IF YOUR VIRUS/ADWARE ALARM GOES OFF, OR IF YOU ARE PROMPTED TO DOWNLOAD ANY ACTIVE X CONTROLS - BEFORE YOU FLIP OUT AND CALL ME A SHITTY ADMIN, OR SAY YOU ARE NEVER EVER GONNA USE THIS SITE AGAIN, KINDLY RIGHT CLICK ON ALL ADS PRESENTLY UP WHEN THAT HAPPENS, AND COPY THE PROPERTY URL THAT APPEARS IN EACH OF THE ADS AND PASTE THAT INFORMATION IN A REPLY TO THIS THREAD. Please screenshot the window with the active x download/error message you get and post that also.
WE CAN ONLY FIX PROBLEMS IF YOU REPORT THEM AS REQUESTED ABOVE.
Thank you for your participation. This is a high quality advertiser, and we and they are trying our best to deliver 100% CLEAN ads that don't suck. Please cooperate in this testing to the maximum extent possible.
Everyone who discovers any active x download or has their virus/malware alarm go off, and who reports it as requested above, can have the title of their choice.

Re: Report ALL suspected malware from ads on this site here
There's some stupid fucking redirect. The whole page gets redirected. It's not a pop-up, the page itself actually changes. I was redirected to The Saatchi Gallery - Contemporary Art in London. I was also redirected to goldencasinos.
There was no skip this ad or anything like it on the page, it was a redirect. I hit the back button and immediately get redirected again. I had to close the browser and come back to post this.
Seriously, Internet advertising is shady fucking business. Nobody checks their adds well enough. Shit like this and malware is going to keep happening unless you get something reliable. It's great that the current company will look for shit when you complain, but it's not going to help those that actually get the shit for you to tell them about.

That is shit from the old advertiser still on your comp - that's the exact same one I had problems with last weekend. Clean your shit, or you will continue getting redirected to that site anytime you access this site or any other site on the Internet. Also, like I've said 1000 times now, if you use Firefox instead of IE, or at least don't click on the "download active x" prompt, or even better, use default security settings in IE, this will never happen to you.
I've personally now page refreshed at least 3000 times in IE since the ad change and have not had the problem, because I cleaned my shit before. You will continue to have this problem from now until the end of time until you do what I suggested above. This will not go away until you do, and it is not being caused by our current ads.

Re: Report ALL suspected malware from ads on this site here
I use the latest Firefox.
This is the FIRST time this has happened to me on your site. This is the FIRST and ONLY time it has happened to me on any site. I regularly clean my system.
That's another thing I see with you and all this fucking malware bullshit. You always accuse the people that are reporting it and telling them it is their fault. How about you listen to people for once.

Re: Report ALL suspected malware from ads on this site here
I have listened and am listening. I've spent 100 hours in the last week testing this shit, and am not able to duplicate the problem you describe after all that testing based on the current ads.
Let me tell you something also. Yes, I also got redirects in Firefox to the exact same site you are talking about after clicking on an active X download in IE this past weekend. IE was responsible for downloading and prompting me to download a spoofed active x control that it said was from the Microsoft corporation. It fooled me into downloading it in IE, but then it took over Firefox also and started spamming open browser windows in either browser.
Then I totally cleaned my shit, and using both browsers for thousands of page refreshes over the past two days, have not had the problem duplicated.
This is not a linear problem. This is a compounded problem. If a file remained on your machine from this past weekend, it is entirely possible and in fact likely that AVG didn't catch it when it downloaded onto your comp, and that it still remains on your comp. If that's the case, the way this shit works is that it doesn't do the same thing 100% of the time. It may be getting calls to become active based on certain URLs or ads for all I know.
But then I ran all the different apps listed in the post I stickied about this, and each and every one of those apps found shit that the other ones didn't.
Like I've been saying, you cannot rely on one single virus/malware app to get rid of this and think you've done everything needed. You must run multiple different apps, and you'll find they all find additional shit when you run them. I believe the root cause of the problem on my machine, and the one that made it all go away for me, was found by Trend Micro HouseCall - Free Online Virus and Spyware Scan .
Since I did all these things, the problem has not repeated, again after thousands of page loads in both IE and Firefox. All I'm suggesting is that is will be more productive to do as I've suggested rather than continue to argue about this, because that isn't going to accomplish anything.
I can't just turn off all ads and go add free based on what you are telling me. I firmly believe your problem is pre-existing from the earlier ads and not related to the current ads. I say this after fucking with this for about 100 hours. All you are telling me is that you assume there is a cause and effect relationship between our current ads an your current problem. I'm sorry, that isn't enough, based on the number of users using this site and only two of you claiming this unsubstantiated belief.

I run AVG, Spybot, and Adaware quite often. I don't ever use IE and would not accept anything that wants to install ActiveX anywhere if I did, let alone on these forums.
My system is clean. I make sure to keep it that way.
As for your 100 hours, I don't give a shit. I don't expect anything less if you want to keep people coming to this site with all the bullshit that the adds have caused.
