This shows that you don't understand what he was saying. Let me break it down for you. He was constantly refreshing the page to get the add that supposedly infected your's, and other's, computers. He was unable to reproduce the problem that you, and others, encountered. Thus, he is unable to tell the ad agency what was causing the problem or if the problem even did originate from an ad on this site.

something else that was making things hard to pinpoint, was how the infection happened, when a computer accessed the infected ad it set things up for addition malware to come into your computer from elsewhere.

this problem was affecting lots of sites, the icanhasacheeseburger.com lolcats site was infected with the exact same problem as were many other sites connected to the compromised adbrite ad server.

Adbrite should have done a better job policing its content.

just an fyi, I had a virus come up and deleted by Norton while I was clicking through pages here. I went to the site you listed and reported it. Here is a copy of the message I put in:

I'm not sure of the full details of the virus, but I just got a pop-up message from Norton while I was navigating around www.eq2flames.com forum. Here are the details of what was blocked and deleted by Norton:
Object Name: Temporary Internet Files\Content.IE5\HWRHEM6S\adsgen[1].htm
Virus Name: Downloader.MisleadApp
Action Taken: The file was automatically deleted.

Thank you for reporting that. We are going to try out ad agency #5 when I return from Fan Faire. If that doesn't work, I just don't know what we can do, I've exhausted every possibility I can think of now.

Legacy, the browser hijackers are the biggest pains in the ass I've ever dealt with. 2 things you missed (at least if the things you named here are all you've done) is turn off the system restore (yeah, the fuckers hide in your restore points) and use something like hijackthis! Hijackthis! wont solve your problems, but it will produce a log that you can post to a forum (not this one) and get help from people who really know what they are doing.

You could directly sell advertising instead of allowing these other companies to manage whats being posted here.

That would be the optimal solution except that someone has to make the endless sales calls to get the advertisers, organize schedules and coodinate with the ad designers and upload the content to the site.

your talking at least one full time job and a lifetime of headaches.
