Hello everyone, i believe my PC is overqualified for EQ2 due to the fact that I could play GW2, and SWTOR on max settings with no lag. However, on EQ2 (its fully patched and DLd) I get 50-100 FPS, but when i turn or move it drops down to 1-5 FPS. It is unplayable for me.... The only thing i could think of is that i am missing some driver somewhere. Anyway, here are my PC specs and would like some feedback, Thanks
Motherboard: ASUStek P8H61-M LX3 R2.0 "Sandy Bridge"
Processor: Intel Pentium G850 2.9GHZ
RAM: 8gigs ddr3
GPU: Dxdiag says AMD Radeon HD 6800 Series
Windows 7
I play in windowed mode like i do every game... If i dont get this fixed in like a week i am going to just give up and have to play some other game. Its sad because i really wanted to restart my gold account![]()
Other than making sure you have a current catalyst for your ATI graphics card, look at whether all the things you have optioned for graphics are needed. Aside from that, there are some really lagtastic zones in the game, T3 guild hall being one of them.
Edit: I have found that an integrated graphics card as opposed to a dedicated graphics really has some difficulties with eq2.
It's your processor. Eq2 was made when proc speeds were sky rocketing and the developers put the burden on the cpu. If you're not overclocked at 4+ ghz you'll always get lag above balanced settings.

My 2.2ghz laptop can run eq2... Hell I've even raided on it.
It doesn't take a NASA computer to simply run the game, only to run it with decent FPS.

look on the live forums for people with multicore issues. you should find something there to make the game run better for yourself.
I run an i7 2600 @ 3.4 GHz and Radeon 6700-series video. While I can run with (nearly) all options on for soloing or grouping, it lags severely for raids so I have to change to a "raid" setting to get acceptable frame rates. As it has been said, EQ2 does not have a modern engine and the best graphic card in the world won't help it much. Yes, you will find people who say they run with all the bells & whistles on, but I bet they are also running top-end gear and overclocked with water cooling, too.
Maybe EQNext will do thing better...but since this is SOE and I do not have a crystal ball, who knows?
