OMG HEALERS SHOULD ONLY HEAL - Page 2

Keep the tank alive, heal, heal, heal, debuff, cure, keep dps alive (if they aren't fucktards that have it coming), dps.

DPS isn't the first thing I want from a healer but learning to dps as much as possible while doing all those other things is a key ingredient that makes a healer go from being a good healer to a great one. I heal well, but I need to work on my dps. It's part of progressing in my class.

If a healer is doing neither good healing or dps, they don't belong. If they are doing one but not the other they might need some help or motivation. I swear to god if I see one more "raid" cleric with the Exorcist title I'm gonna ask Santa to have the elves delete some other players characters on Nektulos server. It makes me nervous as a tank, and embarrassed as a templar.

Yeah, because that .5 seconds you save on each trash mob by dps'ing is so helpful. It's one thing if it's a named that requires high dps, but give me a break.

If you're not healing you should be dps'ing.

What else is a healer gonna do? Be lazy, and only do the bare minimum? If so, fuck them. They should be benched. Everyone can always be doing something useful. Sadly, some think "bare minimum + roll on loot" is all that's required.

Guess I'm only talking about it from a mt healer perspective. Offtank healers should dps I suppose but it still doesn't make much of a difference.

Last night we did EH, I parsed 954 3rd floor (including Treah), MT shaman parsed 500ish, Fury parsed 1901, several other healers parsed 400+. So you have 6-7 people doing 500+ "more" dmg than they should be, thats 3-5k raid dps. Oh yea, no one died either, and tank was in green whole time.

How is adding raid dps, which seems to be the "cool factor" by todays standards, bad in any way?
If you enjoy dpsing, do it, but dont get caught with your pants down and let your tank die. If you dont like it, dont do it, and look like an idiot on the parse with your 45 ZW.

I never said it was a bad thing. But it would be stupid to kick a good healer because he doesn't dps since he's there to heal and not dps. And I'm proud of my 3 dps EH zonewide where 70% of my damage was from the shocker tyvm.

Really depends on play style of you and your guild, then your raid setup, sure if my guild ran with Templar, Defiler, Druid mt group i'd probably do more DPS than I currently do, as it stand though, I'll melee where possible and keep up Warring and Punish.
My DPS ZW if the last of my concerns on any raid.

Indeed. I'm not saying, "Kill any healers not dpsing" but, ya know, at least autoattack on trash, etc. You better be healing or debuffing or curing or dpsing or something. If you're just cycling two reactives and half your debuffs and think that's awesome, you suck. I know you don't suck, and that you do more than that.

It's equally retarded to worry so much about your dps as a healer that you let the tank die. It's a balancing act, and if you can do some dps, why wouldn't you? It's an easy way to help your raids ZW.
