U r fuckin moron if u judge templar by their dps ..ill go templar that great at healing and cureing than one is at ok at healing/curein/dps . and its stupid to keep healer cuz he/she does great job at dps'ing and sucks at healing but i guess its better that one who sucks at both

But i agree healers should dps when healing/curin not needed .. i know Mine knows what i can do but ill just say i do dps over 400 zw on pretty much all zone unless i lagging very bad ( which happens pretty often) but yea i do 800-1000 or more if im in off tank grp

Just my two cents but as long as the clas boards have been up we have had many dicussions about templar dps. and the best we ahve come up with is.....Don't fucking slack. if you are needing to heal for MT or OT purposes then heal and debuff. If you're not. then nuke and attack. my numbers are about the same as lumpy's.

I never said I judge healers by their dps :P I think if you don't even try then basically you should be replaced by someone who's willing to play their class to its fullest.

Healers that refuse to even try are basically deadweight imo. Remember the faster the mobs die the less you have to heal. Seriously, who wants to make fights last longer than they have to?

How I've always thought about it, is that if I'm not scrambling to keep the tank alive, I would definately throw a nuke or dot on and help out. These days Templars have so much power that it's not a big issue like it was back in t6 and some fights in t7 where you could run out of power (remember Matron before the nerf?). If I'm at a point in the fight where the MT is doing alright, you bet I'll throw a few nukes in there.

What I do think is balls though, is clerics running in and melee dps'ing on fights with huge aoes and risking the raid success by trying to add a couple hundred meager DPS to the fight. I would kick a Templar who ran in and was a dumbass and died from AoE's when they're not supposed to, for sure. Risks like that are too big to take because they impact the success of the fight drastically.

If you seriously need to heal so damn much that you have zero time for dps then you have more problems then just you slacking. On my templar i usually parse 600-800 zonewide and more on undead, i'm specced stamina/intel. If I am on my templar instead of the ranger then I am generally in the MT group. Usually parsing around 18-25% of the raids heals #1 or 2.

For trash I generally use the group buffs, stoneskin on mt, str/wis on the swash and 3 glory procs along with the single target hp for the mt. I autoattack, stack my reactives as well as put on mark and involuntary (which heal for more then most of the raid) And go to town with as much dps as I can, if a reactive falls off I put it back up.

I never have power issues, I am a tinker and i use overclocked manastone, manastone, vessel of fyre un, hearts, shards, clarity potions, and if i start getting low and the MT is stable i call for an animal form....Also on vessel and overclocked mana stone i call for a jesters cap (we roll with 2 troubs right now) If you are a healer and not a Tinkerer then you seriously need to think about it. If overclocked fails i call for a flow, but it rarely fails.

I mean dps is totally optional, if you can't keep your tank alive AND dps then don't do it. Raid dps is a multiplier, if you are doin 700 more dps for the raid, then the raid as a whole will also do slightly more dps...now if all your healers are doin 700 more dps you're talking a HUGE increase well beyong the 4200 you would get from 6 healers dpsing.

Optimizing my DPS'ing is the only thing keeping me sane while blowing through the same easily completed raid zones every week. Obviously, your main task is keeping people alive, but as content becomes trivial, little effort/time is needed to do that, leaving time to do damage.

Healers that don't do any damage at all on trash are either semi-afk, distracted, or just lazy.

heh, but yeah, 500-800 dps ZW is easy to accomplish without even trying, and if trying its not very hard to push 1200. I think I did like 800 dps on floor 3 EH last week in all normal healing gear and without putting much thought into it. I stopped competing for dps with our other templar tho, I'm thinking its because she has boobs? Fucking hax0rz

I fall into the category that I was usually in the OT group so I could dps more. After playing a templar for a year and a half of raiding, i started to get deathly bored with the class. So I started playing with my dps a bit. I have pushed 16-1700 dps in a non troub group. Recently I picked up Ro as a diety (got the cloak), finished the HQ for the proc belt, worked on the vampire slayer jewelery quests (Just one left for the last piece) and a few other odds and ends to help up my dps when i get the chance to see how high i can get. Have yet been in a troub group and i hope to one day just to see what i can hit.

As far as healing goes, it sucks as a templar sometimes in a non mt group. People pick up agro and reacts are so slow that by the time you get one off, or a direct heal, the person is dead. Only on fights where i know the tank wont lose agro or suddenly drop dead do I truly just go nuts on dps.

To be honest I think the folks who think healers should only heal are the ones used to the templar who stands around with their thumb up their ass the whole fight.

Sometimes I wonder why I'm on EQFlames causemy gear is shit, I'm a casual raider aat most. But Unrest solo healing I get 6-700 (or more) on undead from the WIS line. There's plenty of time to throw a nuke or two, and if you're wearing the Mistmoore Sage cloak damn straight you should be clicking every nuke and debuff you have because half the time you *earn power* by doing so.

When I do raid I am a MT healer and when there's no AOE's that could splatter or incpacitate me I'm in there fighting, and if there are, I'm definitely debuffing. Dunno though I 'grew up' on Lavastorm server duoing with a Zerker, and I had to fight, or we would lose. Some temps never had to solo or duo in their entire lives.
