OMG HEALERS SHOULD ONLY HEAL

Anyone else sick and tired of this philosophy that is rampant among some healers and most everyone else?

It just chaps my ass when I hear this, when I know that if I go all out and dps I can keep my group alive AND do respectable damage.

I know that when im in most Unrest pick up groups, not only do I have to single heal the tank but if i'm not being lazy I can usually get first or second on the parse for dps.

I have had more than one argument on my server in level chats with people who don't understand the concept that yes, while we heal we also shouldn't sit with a thumb up our ass during the 95% of fights that we aren't needed to heal, especially if the healers aren't in MT group fighting trash.

Anyone here feel that healers should never dps? Im curious what other templars feel on this subject.

Simple answer would be.. If we where not supposed to DPS we wouldn't have damage spells and able to wield big ass hammers.

Problem with most people is that they never think outside the box. Go figure.

Reactives last 30 seconds, with both on, tanks dont die, I.E time to put down 6k nukes on undead every 5 seconds.

Parsing 1-1.5k on undead is badass in raids, it doesnt hurt anyone if you can do it and your tank stays in green.

700 dps on Cmayong and 3rd on heal parse? (would have been 2nd on heals if all i did was heal, but then raid dps would have gone down 700) Cmon how sick is that.

Reactives + Aegis before Blanket = should've been second easily even if you didnt want to solely concentrate on healing.

No one can beat our defiler if they tried. so by default im 2nd tops.

It was a 4 minute fight, i had blanket up every ae, reactives hardly heal when tank stays green all fight

The answer to this question depends on the healer honestly. I'm not capable of the numbers you guys throw out, but I can still do some dps as well as heal. Any one of you guys, shit ya, get out there and do some damage. There are lots of healers however that can't really heal, so no I don't want them attempting to dps as well.

I personally think that the reason for this mentality is the sheer number of sub-par healers out there. If the healer isn't keeping the group/raid alive, then you don't want them distracted with dps as well. As with any class there are those that are exceptional, those that are good enough, and those that aren't.

I always chose the finger in ass option. Dps'ing as a templar always seemed more boring than just sitting there.

If you can't be bothered to even auto-attack or try to dps as a healer....

Your ass should be replaced. Anyone that can't or wont DPS at all is a slacker and there's no other excuse.
