Default Re: Post your Hotbar Setup!

I go about 50-50 with mouse and keyboard use. All my heal spells are hotkeyed. My CA's/Damage spells I click. Cures are hotkeyed, though I usually just click them.
Sometimes I will even click my heals. Like said previously, if you click enough for long enough you get pretty accurate.

I think the only clear advantage that practice won't afford you is if you are able to press the keys without looking(as in touch-typing), you can still look at other things in the game. Such as health bars, AE timers or whatever. If you're clicking your heals with the mouse, you're obviously going to be looking at the heal button you're about to click.

Default Re: Post your Hotbar Setup!

Short Answer: One hotbar.

Long Answer:

I have one hotbar visible at all times at the top of the screen. I change between three different setups for that bar based on whether I'm solo/group/raid. In general, they all have the basic heals and only the last 5 spots change. I use the keyboard exclusively to access these.

IIRC, the three setups vary in their inclusion of things like the OH SHIT macro (death save + other goodies). For example, that has limited use for solo play. Other examples are like Divine Arbitration, the fate line, the daze/stun and the stun heal. Those are all useless in some settings, so I don't always need them up. I macro reverece and the new ward together, but only on the raid hotbar.

I macro all my nukes in a specific order to "Q", along with autoattack and the HO starter. I macro my big three debuffs to "F".

I keep cures (99% of the time I use the Profit group UI mod for cures), clickies and rezes on two hidden bars bellow that. I usually just use the keyboard shortcuts (CNTRL + ALT) to access those. I also keep three macros for quickly switching between solo/group/raid gear here. Sometimes I switch during a zone in between fights between DPS and max heal gear.

I have a fourth hidden bar on the bottom of the screen for buffs.

I like to minimize the amount of UI I see all the time. This gives you a good idea:

Six hotbars for this raiding/grouping/never solo templar /gasp

I use click-to-cure group window that sits right above hotbars. Important spells are in the center. And on separate bars I have buffs, mana regen items and essential pots. I mostly use mouse and Esc, so I'm impressed to hear how others setup macros and/or use their keyboard.

Top Left bar is macros or whatever I need atm.

Out of view on the left is a potion/power item hotbar and on the right out of view are equip macros. Not worth showing though.

Edit: I put my current target in between my hotbars back when I was getting so fkn tired I was falling asleep in my chair every five minutes. Makes it a bit easier to not forget to heal the tank when ur on the verge of losing it.

Edit again: I use nothing but the mouse for spellcasting, hence the proximity of the heals and cures to the group bar.

When I first started using the parser to time AoEs, that really bit me in the ass, either letting the tank die or missing an AoE call. However after an hour or so, you get used to splitting your attention. I guess I don't even look at the hotbar for more than a split second anymore, not any longer than you would if you were using the keyboard and checking to see whats up for recast.

Actually, too often I don't look, and that too is a problem. Not much of a problem if you using heals and you get into a good enough rhythm where you know if it'll be up or not without looking. But there's nothing worse than pressing the key for an emergency heal and then nothing happening.

I'm pretty much 50/50 mouse and keyboard. I keep my most used spells (direct heals and reactives), as well as emergency heals on my primary bar, DD's / DoT's on my second bar, rezzes on my third, and buffs and a couple clickies on the fourth.

Revive will try to cast at the end, but it won't if I'm in combat.
I've never been too great with macros, so I'd love to hear how you set this up.

I am 95% keyboard and I am pretty quick. No logic to the set up. Just got used to where everything is. Its like knowing how to type. Practice, Practice, Practice. and never say Die!!!
