I've never been too great with macros, so I'd love to hear how you set this up.

Just have something like: - Cast Ressurection
- Cast etc...
- Cast etc...
- Cast etc...
- /clearallqueuedabilities
So the macro will attempt to cast the first spell if available/possible, and then clear the button queue. If the first does not cast, it attempts the next. If nothing is up, nothing casts or is queued.
You can do that with group buffs, resses, nukes... more or less you just keep pressing the same button for each cast.

Re: Post your Hotbar Setup!
First post so please be gentle. It took all of my nerve to go from lurker to poster.
Regarding the click to cure, can you macro /cancel_spellcast /cure with the click to cure or would that be dependent on the UI and go do my own research you stupid noob and why would you do that in the first place?
I use the /cancel /cure as a default, timing my cures based on the last spell cast if I don't want to interrupt it. It works for me.
I keep putting off a badly needed major hotbar revamp but I think now I will just to use the keyboard more. I already using the F keys for targeting - sneakily trying to make the tank F2 every time. And I'm stealing Dant's 1-9 keys macro technique.

So far as click to cure, using profit, I was able to find a way to set it up so it would /cancel_spellcast for each cure. I am not sure how I did it, as it was a while ago, but I believe it was in one of the .txt files in the profit folder. Wouldn't be surprised if it was something as simple as cure.txt, I just remember changing "false" to "true".
So far as my hotbar set up, its nothing fancy.
1st hotbar = cures (1-5)+ heals
the rest of the hotbars, the more I think about it as I type this, are more complete randomness than anything. The only thing I truly care about of the 8-9 hotbars I have(this includes all sorts of utility clickies, and includes travel stuff like the splitpaw shard, stein, etc) is that cures are in the position 1-5 slot on my keybinds. That way as I cycle through the Fkeys, I have the shortest distance on my keyboard to get to the cure I need.

Clickcure using potions - EQ2Interface
Here is a post on how to macro extra commands into your click cures (for fetish anyways).

Re: Post your Hotbar Setup!
Haha this brings me back.
If you are a 'mouser' I recommend having all hp bars stacked right next to your hotbuttons!
One thing about healing I found was that I never got to look at the game much. My eyes were glued to a wall of hp bars, maintained spell window and a stack of nine hotbars. Literally the bottom half of my screen was a solid mass of ui so much so that I couldn't see my char when in full zoomed out third person!

Re: Post your Hotbar Setup!
I am a mouse user, then last night a small problem arises, mouse stopped working mid raid in VP, during Silverwing, ( oh crap) did not even have hot bars set to keyboard, why would I never use my keys right. Well, had to fix that fast. Moral to the story, will set up for both from now on so if need arises I can swap out. Finished it up, stayed near top of parse, but had to clean my chair afterward. lol
I vote for flexability...... lesson learned

Re: Post your Hotbar Setup!
I've got 5 hotbars on my screen. There really isn't much rhyme or reason to the order, just kind of how I put them. I wish I could just use the keyboard for all of them instead of using the mouse however.
I don't put totems or potions on hotkeys because I just always keep the same ones in the same bags. I also don't see the point of putting buffs or CoQ on a hotkey. But then I'm pretty anal about keeping my spellbook neat and organized so I don't have to go hunting for the spells I need. Unlike my husband's toons he just keeps them in the order they get scribed that would drive me nuts.

I used to keep a lot of spells off my hotbars and in the first 4 pages of my knowledge book, but then I got into UI modding and had to use the /loadui command a lot. An unfortunate side effect of that command is it will reorganize your book into a seemingly random order. I fixed it about four times, and then I gave up. It was too much work to fix every couple days.
I really wish more hotbars were accessible by keyboard as well. You could easily have 8 keyboard accessible hotbars with just different combinations of Shift, Ctrl, Alt and 0-9-=. Good luck memorizing that easily, but on the other hand, you can map them to things like the numpad, or use G15 macro keys. I have 54 of the silly things but use like 8 at most because EQ2 doesn't have enough worthwhile things to map to the keyboard... like hotkeys!
