Default Re: Important Shield Ally Information

As for phasing out the gear as the MTs avoidance gets higher, that's definitely possible. I take a look at the ACT avoid numbers after every raid. Right now, I'm still avoiding about 17% of the incoming hits. That would have to go down to about 5% for me to change.

There are certain items that are worth giving up the 1% block, IMO. The 1500 ward proc helm is one of them. Even if mobs are averaging a 10k auto-attack (no way), you are mitigating 15% of the damage with that ward. In my experience, that thing procs about 1/10 casts, so you're looking at a 1.5% reduction.

This is all very back of the envelope. Needless to say, itemization is in a sad state when the single most over-powered healer item in the game is barely eeking out a piece of master crafted crap.

i just want to add here 2 things:

put sa on someone and let him run to the other side of the zone like jarsath and fight there for at least 5 minutes mobs. he should have made an extra tab to see blocks parry etc.

i tell u he will see that the klerik blocks (not much) zw.

second is: my healrange is 20 meter, so why the fuck are u discussing about the range in earlier posts ?

So the Marr blessing Valor of Marr, which gives 5.0% parry, applies as well, if I am understanding how things work correctly?

Templar in his 40s here.

I tought SA was checking agains my own avoidance, which it obviously isn't. So even at my level, if I get my hands on a decent shield, it should be worth going SA, or am I completely wrong there? I mean, avoided damage > healed damage, and if I can add... 10%? to the tank's avoidance, that's 10% less for me to heal, even with mobs hitting for 500-600.

But someone told me I should not bother with SA until the high 60s. Could this have been because of the lack of good shields earlier, or because the x% I can add to the tank's avoidance is so completely neglegible I could aswell stay at home with my fucking dinner plate?

Thanks for being kind and answering my questiong and not flaming me

It's sort of my opinion that clerics are decently powered enough in normal healing not to need to bother with Shield Ally in groups. Raids are different where mobs hit for 10-20x our reactive charge amount. Though if you're solo healing something that you can barely keep up with, then I suppose I'd be wrong.

I've had my ups and downs solo healing Runnyeye Citadel a couple days ago, with different tanks. Top notch guardian, I was watching TV while refreshing my reactives. Emo Paladin, I had to spam heals like silly, and could barely keep up.

It is my opinion though, that playing one of the best healing classes (the best?) in the game, with decent gear, and decent spells, I should not struggle with half assed damage output agains half assed tanks. Or am I wrong?

pls remember that it's no just about your tank's and your equip/skill. it also depends on the complete setup of your group.
a dirge will add many defensive skills, good dps will kill mobs faster so you won't have to worry that much about healing etc...

Default Shield Ally in TSO

I herd they nerfed uncontested avoidance. Is there anyone, who tested it in the beta or read something somewhere? The maximum possible blocking in TSO is increased, so it is possible to balance it with some kind of nerf.

It looks like they took then uncontested away but added in items and AA lines with increased shield effectiveness.

Typical SoE expansion.... take shit away then give another way to get you back to the point you were before the expansion releases. Therefore, not getting any stronger.
