Re: Shield Ally in TSO
I just typed a huge whine then erased it.
Does anyone know what exactly we'll need to change to get the best shield ally now?
It is confirmed that we can drop our fabled parry adorns because they do nothing? Or do they still do something but not as much?
I asume we still want the T5 fabled adorn on shield as that directly affects the shield? Or no?
As I still don't have my Hate shield because it hasn't dropped since we got it on our first run there the first week Hate was open, I'm looking forward to finding the new "must have" shield drop.

Fabled parry adornments still work. Avoidance food/drink still work.
Anything that used to increase your chance to block additively by a set percentage (shield adornment, Tangrin helm) now only works like Shield Effectiveness (think: AGI line), which makes them much less effective, but they still do technically work with Shield Ally.

Re: Shield Ally in TSO
The shield adorn on beta is now just 1% shield effectiveness, which is very neglibible.

Re: Shield Ally in TSO
Ewww 1% shield effectiveness is pretty blah. Depending on the shield that's on average about +6 protection. Perhaps they might allow a T7 and T8 version of this adorn to provide 2% and 3% bonuses respectively.
I heard the devs took a backward step on the uncontested avoidance changes and they are now not going through?
I noticed someone mentioned food and drinks are still assisting Shield Ally. I take it this means that the 3% wrist parry adornments still assist?
Not that it matters much... has anyone done any testing on the Dogwood Staff in TSO?
From what I'm hearing here pretty much nothing is changing for Shield Ally other than the block adorn?

Re: Shield Ally in TSO
What exactly is shield effectiveness? Does 1% mean, that your current mitigation is going up 1%?
With the old +1% blocking adorn, my blocking % on the shield dreklius rises from 8,8 to 9,8%. With shield effectiveness, would it increase from 8,8% to 8,89% instead?
Or is there a formula behind it?
There is a 3 piece bonus of a holy warriors shard set for 15% shield effectiveness in tso, anyone beta tested if its usefull?

If your shield has a protection of 1,000, a 1% increase would apply a value of 1,010 to your block. A 15% shield effectiveness would apply 150. Basically, it increases the effectiveness of your protection value based on the percentage of shield effectiveness you have.
Large amount of shield effectiveness would be useful to clerics using Shield Ally, and very useful to tanks themselves.

Re: Shield Ally in TSO
This should be stickied as it gives more important info about SA and if from what we are hearing the TSO mobs hit quite a bit harder so SA should be even more of a necessity then before.

Re: Shield Ally in TSO
I just compared my overall avoidance without drinks from now wearing dreklius to tso.
Now:
Avoidance 30,8%
Base 13,8%
Block 14,6%
Parry 6%
TSO:
Avoidance 25,1%
Base 9,6%
Block 11,9%
Parry 6%
With the new AA +10% Shield Effectiveness, the overall avoidence went up 0,8%. The MC items with 1% Block just add 0,7% within tso instead of 1,4% now. Parry Food is still the same. With the dodgewood staff, my overall avoidence just went down from 32,4% to 29,1%. So it was giving a better avoidence than a shield with max shield effectiveness of common items. But I don't have any fabled shield to compare.
