So should I bother with the shield effectiveness sets or is the benefit from that not worth bothering with?

From the previous posts it seems that the benefits are minimal at best.

Question about shield selection.
Guard of Drelikus is giving same avoidance as Shield of Raibow Hues even though protection is 677 vs 783. Is this because of the equipment level? How does this compare when fighting lv88 mobs? Is the difference the same or is one better vs orange mobs?

Also, fabled vs legendary, Brace of Corporeal Darklight 664 prot vs Guard of Drelikus 677 prot (or Rainbow 783). I know the brace is awesome because of the effects but is there an extra bonus to protection because it's fabled? I don't have it btw.

Thanks!

These are mostly guesses, but a higher level item with equal protection chance verses your level will probably do better against a mob higher than your level. Most of these things do not use linear progressions.

Maybe mentoring will correctly show the relationship if you use items that stay below your mentoring level(IE they don't turn purple).

I don't think the Legendary, Fabled, Mythical tags will specifically affect how an item works mechanically.

1 yes, ya should try to get shield effectiveness. I would not go for the sets but sure for the AA lines. think i got 42% shield effectiveness with aa only so...

2 If those protection numbers are correct then is Guard of Drelikus the best shield if ya only look for shield ally.
If ya look in general Brace of Corporeal Darklight is for moment the best templar (and guess for some other healer class) shield.
Its protection is highest (if ya leave guard out) and its stats are way better then the ones Guard of Drelikus got.
Some time ago i did some testing, Rainbow shield @ lvl80 is exact the same as Guard of Drelikus for protection, ofc the stats on rainbow shield are @ lvl80 so bad ya can better use Guard of Drelikus.

Navigate to the encounter in question, or even the All encounter of a zone... navigate to the tank... right-click the name in the treeview and select Avoidance Report. Look for entries that start with, "YOU".

Though just to be sure that you understand... due to the order of incidence that avoidance follows... just because you cause avoidance on the tank does not mean that the tank was going to be hit without you. Your avoidance checks are somewhere in the middle of it all.
