Of course then RPing gets a nice kick in the head from Dodge drink.

I apologize if this was asked before but I could not find it on the forums. Battle Fervor, in the Agi line increases shield effectiveness by so much percentage per rank, does this help Shield Ally any and if it does how so?

Yes i the short answer.

The long answer is yes, it increases the effectiveness of shield ally, by well, increasing the effectiveness of your shield. Correct me (and flame me) if I'm wrong, but it increases the protection, which I believe contributes to the block% that shows up in your avoidance tooltip.

You're exactly right.

Your block chance is determined by the protection of your shield, and any % modifiers you have to your block chance (like the adornment from t5 for shields).

Battle Fervor increases the effective "protection" of your shield by 32%, and has a significant impact on your block chance.

At the chance of posting a noobish question as my very first post on this forum....

I have been trying to find information on the stats that reflect the shield ally and have been experimenting with it a bit aswell. But in game I was told that getting more +defense items don't work for more blocking. Comparing my act avoidance report it looks about the same as my base avoidance in eq2. Is is the base avoidance or my own avoidance that I should get up?

Thanks for your time

I would suggest you do a little reading, this question has been answered many times in many different threads.

Simply because I hate the way the innner workings of this ability are not apparent in the ability description I'll give a quick run down on my understanding...

- Your personal avoidance does not dictate the effectiveness of Shield Ally.
- Increasing your AGILITY does not effect Shield Ally.
- Items with +DEFENCE / +PARRY / +DEFLECTION does not effect Shield Ally.
- Not facing the tank or standing at more than 19 metres from the tank negatively effects Shield Ally (read this thread for more info).

- Your shield protection value does effect Shield Ally and is the primary variable that dictates the effectiveness of this ability.
- The AA ability 'Battle Fervor' which increases shield effectivness essentially (from a game mechanic point of view) raises the protection value of your shield and thus does increase the effectiveness of Shield Ally.
- Items that offer a flat percentage chance to parry or dodge does increse the effectiveness of Shield Ally i.e. 3% parry adorns, 1% shield block, 2.2% parry food/drink etc.

I think that covers everything...

Yes, because it is % based.
